Daniel Gordon Moldowan

November 4, 1962 - September 19, 2016

With profound sadness, we share that on Monday evening our beloved Danny broke on through to the other side. Dannyʼs four and a half year battle with cancer was fierce and he taught us many lessons with his approach to life and what lies beyond. We learned to be courageous, compassionate, almost fearless, live no day but today, and that no matter how dire a situation might seem, life is always better when one has a giant burnt martini accompanied with a big belly laugh.

Born to Irving and Patricia Moldowan (deceased), Dan was an immeasurably loving husband to Nancy, a father and best friend to Jason and his darling wife Mary, a devoted brother to Laura, Bob (Janine) & Rick (Marilyn), son in law to Craig, brother in law to Devon (Viche), Uncle to Lucas, Leah, Sarah (Gord), Carla (Michael), Krista (Dieter), and Megan, and happily related to Bunty, Greg & Steve. He was loved by many cousins and extended family and was like a “dad” to all his Boxing Day kids. He considered himself blessed to have life long friendships both personally and professionally which he treasured and nurtured with his open heart and easy manner.

We hope that you will join us in a Celebration of Life at 2:00 pm, Tuesday October 4th, at the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC.

  1. To all the Moldowan family, you are in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. It is not easy at all to lose someone in any circumstances, especially those that dear Dan had. The younger one is taken the more cruel life seems. Please know that this and the courage with which Dan faces his circumstance has all been a powerful reminder to us that we must appreciate all that we have and live life, and the opportunities presented to us, to the fullest. Thinking of you ALL.

  2. I am so heartbroken to hear of this. Dan was one of the kindest people I have ever had the pleasure of working with and I have nothing but fond memories of him. He always knew how to laugh and have a great time! Words cannot express my condolences to the family – Nancy, Jason & Mary you are all in my thoughts & prayers. You will be missed greatly by all who had the pleasure of knowing you, “Danmoldon” Hugs, Eva (Lorri)

  3. BIG,
You got some nerve taking off on me like that, who the hell am I going to phone now when I need help or when I want to sneak off to golf and I need a willing partner who is also supposed to be working. You just get everything ready for me in Heaven, cause I can’t wait to get there and tell you I was right again. Put in a good word for me with the Lord (your probably driving him nuts already) Luv ya buddy see you on the flip flop, miss you much.
    BIGGEST.

  4. Very sorry for your loss; we wish your family “Long Life!”

Sincerely, Ivan and Ida Moldowan and family.

This week I lost my little Brother and the little Brother Janine never had.

Even though we did not see much of each you over the years, you were a constant in our hearts and minds and we will feel the loss and miss you every day.

Uncle Danny was dearly loved by Sarah and Carla, who have many very happy memories of the times they spent with him on their trips to Vancouver.

Our deepest sympathy to Nancy, Jason and all our family. We wish we could be there with you at this sad time.

  7. There is never enough time. We were so thankful to have you & Nancy as our neighbors. Thank you for the good times. It has been a wonderful home for us, with birds calling and neighbors laughing. Of course, we wish we had known you better, but there was never enough time. I know you hold a special place in many human hearts, but you also have a special place in an animal’s heart – which is probably more significant – because I think the angels take special care of those that took special care of animals. Eli will miss you. You were his best friend.

  8. Dear Dan, for the over twenty years I have known you I have always appreciated your tremendous fun personality and honesty and openness and have enjoyed all the many times we spent doing business . I always knew I could count on you. You’re a very special person. My deepest sympathy and condolences to your family. Rick Bronson

  9. Dear Dan,
I can’t even begin to say how much we cared for you. Your sense of humor, knowledge and quick wit were the best. I can still picture you walking in our house with your Bass Head Day hat on and I still chuckle about it. Will miss talking about politics with you and your impressions of our “great” leaders. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed as much as I did with you and our darling Nancy. You will always be missed, but never forgotten. Until we meet again.

  10. To say you were simply my cousin would not do our relationship any justice. You were so much more than that. Some of the best years of my life were spent with you right along side me. I could always count on you for advice, support, a good laugh or a dim sum buddy. I loved you so much and will miss you terribly. Rest peacefully.

    Melly “Kid”
