After a wonderful, eventful life Daryl passed peacefully at the age of 91 years. Daryl was born and raised in Victoria. Along with his partner, he opened Watson’s Men’s Wear on Pandora Avenue. It was then he discovered the joy and trials of the “links” and was a proud member of Uplands Golf course for 60 years. Daryl loved great food, entertaining and that perfect single malt. You never heard Daryl complain until near the end of his life when his dinner became a pureed shake. He would have much preferred a hamburger! Later in life his “church of the green” changed on Sundays, when he became a member of Oak Bay United. He possessed grace, tact, love of nature and was a true gentleman with a sparkling sense of humour. Predeceased by his brides, Peggy Anderson (Thow) and Mona Anderson (Farmer), he will be missed by his daughter, Damone, family, extended family and cherished life-long friends. We would like to thank the Lodge at Broadmead for their unwavering care and a special thank you to Julie. As Daryl would always say: “Blessings on you all”.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at Oak Bay United Church, 1355 Mitchell Street, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers please donate to Our Place. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Jeff Burke (nephew in law) My Mom nailed it— no matter how much you know its coming, when a near and dear person goes, it s still hurts— peace to you in your grieving, Damone.
About the same time (on the same day!) your dad passed on, an Uncle Jim memory came back… I was at your childhood home, showering in the basement… it was time for Uncle Jim to go… he came down stairs, thrust his hand in the shower, shook my hand and said something like ‘GOODBYE, SEE YOU NEXT TRIP!’ Never before, and never since, has someone given me a handshake in a shower stall… not a Daryl moment exactly, but an Anderson moment, fer sure.
Your dad being in the clothing biz certainly made for some, ehhh, special Christmas gifts… the things we kids take as normal that just are so…unique… to others… the velcro’d bath kilt that replaced the towel wrapped around the waist was one. I still have the made-in-australia left-handed-zip sheepskin vest. Sheesh, what a guy.

Heather MacInnes How we will miss your Dad. The first time we met Daryl I thought he looked like Andy Williams- very handsome, charming, suave- and yes, he could sing too. Then he married Mona and they were thrilled with little you. It was lovely to be entertained in your home, meeting their fun friends and enjoying delicious dinners. There were changes and Daryl was very lucky to get a second wife who was also lovely and caring. Peg,Daryl.Doreen and Jim visited us here in C.B. 19 yrs ago in autumn season. We always remember how wonderful the time was. Of course Daryl was always the consumate host, entertaining a large group of family 3 yrs ago when Megan and I were there. He was, as ever, gracious and generous. No wonder we will always, always love him. Lloyd, Megan and Lloyd Michael join me in sending our sympathy to you Damone. With love, Heather

DODIE LONG (Peggy's Sister) John and I send our sincere condolences, Damone. We are so grateful that Daryl became one of the family when he married Peggy. Although our visits with Daryl and Peggy were few and far between, without exception, we knew we would be in for an enjoyable visit with them. Daryl will be missed by all of us but so many pleasant memories will remain.

Pauline Laffin Damone, I was sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing. Through the years I have very fond memories of your Dad. When your dad was driving through Nanaimo he would stop at the Bay for a visit, and your dad and I always had to play at least one game of crib. I always enjoyed his stories and he had a special way of telling them, and the way he lit up when telling a story. I am glad that your dad and my dad were able to spend time together on Daryl’s 90th birthday, watching the cousins spending time together was awesome. You were a wonderful daughter to your dad, when ever he spoke of you he had such pride, love, and joy. Your dad will be missed by many, but the wonderful memories will remain of Daryl.

Tomye Anne Barrow He was a wonderful man Damone with a great sense of humour and love of life .. but who wouldn’t love and respect a man who put his daughter, scotch, golf, nature, good food and good friends as his priority. He and my mother Vi Farmer (Mona’s sister-in-law) adored each other – David and I thought he was pretty special too. He left us all with memories that make us smile.

Jennifer Anderson Nottingham Sorry to hear Damone, my thoughts are with you today. From reading this honouring life, I can see many resemblances between your dad and my grandpa. Especially the part about missing good food. Now they will enjoy good food together, with loved ones. You will be missed Daryl, love Jenn and Nathan
