Archibald Stanley Davis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and proud naval officer, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025 at the age of 88.

He entered the RCN in 1953 at age 16 (ordinary seaman) and retired 33 years later during which he served on the HMCS Cape Breton, Crusader, Saint Laurent, Cayuga, Port Saint Jean, New Waterford, Nipigon, Fraser, including several technical services detachments, Fleet School Halifax, and Naval Headquarters Ottawa, as an ERA or MARE.

Son of George and Edith Davis, Archie was raised in Toronto during the depression and World War II years. As a civilian, he was employed by St. John shipbuilding on the Frigate program and subsequently by Litton Industries on the Tribal update program.

He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 67 years, Geraldine Davis, Son George, his wife Sherri, grandson Cole. Daughter Donna and grand-daughters Alora and Cara. Daughter Heather, hubby Ron, and grand-sons, Dalton, Danny (Blossom and Sylphy) and Lukas. His sister Dorothy, nieces Patty and Lori and their families. His great nephew Bill Leeder and his family. Many cousins, and former Navy buddies.

After retiring Arch and Gerri enjoyed many happy winters in Florida and lots of travel across Canada from Victoria to Newfoundland.

For 88 years he lived a very fulfilling life. He will be missed by many but always remembered.

There will be a scattering of ashes at sea by the RCN Pacific in keeping with his wishes.

By request there will be no funeral service. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to thank all who cared for Archie, with special thanks to the staff on 6th floor of North tower of VGH.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

  • Darrell Comeau

Condelences to Geraldine and the Davis Family from Darrell and Jodi,

I have memories of Archie while hanging out with George at the Davis house.
I remember Archie’s big laugh and his teasing whenever us young kids did stupid things (as young kids do).

Archie was a big personality with a big heart.
    He will be missed.

    Darrell
