Passed away peacefully at Victoria General Hospital with surrounding family.
Predeceased by both parents Norman and Thelma (McNichol), wife Beverly (Voyer), his brothers Lorne and Donald James Barton, brother-in-law Melvin (Bun) Morley, and sister-in-law Marg Barton, nephew Shawn Barton.
He is survived by children Brian, Della (Ron),Cathy (Glen), and Barry (Lori), sister-in-law Jean Barton, sisters Agnes, Loreen (Dolly) Morley and Ellen (Mike) Coppinger. He also leaves thirteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren with another one on the way and also seven nieces and four nephews.
Del joined the army January 1951 to January 1972. After his many years of service in the military, he ended his working days at Loomis Courier (18 years). In his retirement he enjoyed family gatherings, his gardening and enjoying a cold one while sitting outside.
Many thanks and shout out to all the VIHA workers, doctors, and nurses who were amazing in helping out in the last few months.
A celebration of life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria BC on Sunday April 19, 2026, 1pm-4pm.
