Quan, Dennis a beloved husband, brother and friend, passed away on February 4, 2024 at the age of 74 in Victoria, BC. He was born on February 26, 1949 in Canton, China, and his passing has left a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Dennis was predeceased by his parents Yung Foon and Ngan Choy, and brother Jimmy. He is survived by his wife, Yoon Jung Cho, stepdaughter Adele, stepson Bryan, siblings Richard (Sharon), John, Mary (Henry), nieces and nephews Jeremy, Marisa, Chris, Alissa, Vanessa, Stephanie (goddaughter), Michelle, and Cassandra. He is also deeply missed by many lifelong friends and extended family.
Dennis was a mentor for his younger siblings and friends, who looked to him for guidance throughout life. He was a gifted artist and loved to play the guitar and sing in his band. His competitive spirit allowed him to excel in sports, his passions being golf and badminton. He was a trendsetter, always sharply dressed for any occasion. He was full of life, humour, humility, peace, kindness and gentleness. He lived a full and fun life, and shared it with his beloved “Yoonie”.
The family wish to thank Pastor Stevens, Pastor Kim, Yeon Hwa Jung, Pastor Wee and Amy Kua for their spiritual support. The family also appreciated the kind hospital staff who cared for Dennis. We were especially touched by Martha’s cheer and compassion.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2024 for family.

Henry K. K. Low DENIS WAS A VERY DEAR FRIEND OF MINE OF OVER 58 YEARS AND THAT’S A LONG LONG TIME. HE WAS A WONDERFUL CARING AND THE MOST THOUGHTFUL FRIEND I HAVE EVER THE PLEASURE TO KNOW. I CAN’T BELIEVE HE IS GONE SO SOON. DENIS WE HAVE STILL MORE SONGS TO SING TOGETHER, MORE GOLF FOR YOU TO PLAY AT UPLANDS, AND MORE HAPPY TIMES TO SHARE WITH ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND LOVED ONES. DEN DEN ( AS WE AFFECTIONATELY CALL HIM) WAS A DAREDEVIL UNBEKNOWNST TO YOU ALL. WHEN HE AND SOME OF MY VICTORIA BUDDIES COME TO VISIT ME WHEN I WAS WORKING WITH MY UNCLE IN VANCOUVER FOR 2 ½ YEARS. THEY WOULD ALL STAY AT THE HOLIDAY INN ON PENDER. ON THE HIGH SECOND FLOOR BALCONY, I ONCE SAW OUR DAREDEVIL DEN DEN DO A HANDSTAND ON TOP OF THE RAIL ON THE BALCONY. I GO ‘OMG DENIS WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!” BUT THAT’S OUR DEN DEN SO CONFIDENT , SO SURE OF HIMSELF , AND SO TALENTED IN HIS ABILITIES. AND ON THAT DAY, I KNEW I SAW DENIS IN A DIFFERENT LIGHT. I HAD MANY UPS AND DOWNS PERSONALLY IN MY LIFE AND WHENEVER THE DOWNS OCCUR I KNOW MY DENIS WAS THERE TO SOOTH MY SOUL AND TURN ALL THOSE DOWNS TO UPS. I MISS YOU BUDDY. I’M SURE ALL OF US WAS TOUCHED BY THIS MAN. HE WAS A FATHER , SON AND BROTHER TO ALL US. HE WAS A MAN TO BE ADMIRED , HE WAS A SPORTSMAN, AND A WAS GREAT DOING HIS JOB THAT ONCE HIS BOSS TOLD ME , THE COMPANY WOULD BE AT A LOST WITHOUT HIM. WHEN HE PUTS HIS HEART AND MIND INTO ANYTHING HE DOES, HE WAS A MASTER AT IT. THERE MAY NOT BE ANOTHER DENIS QUAN. HE WAS ONE OF A KIND INDIVIDUAL. I AM SO GLAD TO HAVE KNOWN HIM. THE VERY LAST TIME I SAW HIM WAS AT THE SHIZEN JAPANESE RESTAURANT. HE SURPRISED ME FROM BEHIND AND GIVE ME A BIG HUG AND WAS IN GREAT SPIRIT. THAT IS THE WAY I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HIM BY. I HAVE NEVER EVER SEEN HIM SAD OR HAVE ANY ANGRY WORDS TOWARDS ANYONE. HE IS IN CHINESE WORDS ONE “SEE MUN LOW” , A REAL GENTLEMAN’S GENTLEMAN. OUR GREAT DENIS WAS ONE CLASSY GUY. I ON THE OTHER HAND AM NOT ONE. SO WHEN HE SEES ME BEING UNCLASSY , HE WAS ALWAYS THERE TO SET ME STRAIGHT AND SAY TO ME” HENLEE GALL , COME ON YOU ARE BETTER THAN THAT MAN!” I CAN GO ON AND ON ABOUT HIM. WE ALL LOST A FINE FINE PERSON. WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER YOU AND WHAT YOU HAVE SHARED WITH US. YOU HAVE TRULY TOUCHED ALL OUR HEARTS. WE THANK YOU FOR BEING OUR DEN DEN.

Daryl Yuen Goodbye old friend. I will miss you deeply and will cherish memories of our road trip to Oregon and our trip to Mexico. We were young and adventurous back in those days. You were a great tennis partner…your Nadal to my Federer or so we imagined.
We were “besties” before “besties” was a thing. There will be a void in my life without you in it.

This world lost a great person. A great friend close for sixty years. Often I still think of our trip to San Francisco in your MGB. I will miss you on the tennis court and numerous good times we have had. I will always remember the gathering at your parents house. Your passion for perfection at everything that you do, whether it was making your own suits or building on the basement at your parents basement. You are a true friend that I have had the pleasure of knowing. I will not forget the friendship that we shared. Rest in peace my buddy.
