Dennis Edward Morgan

It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of Dr. Dennis Morgan on January 8, 2015. The eldest of six children, he was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland on September 10, 1956. After graduating medical school and training as a cardiologist, he settled in Victoria, British Columbia with his wife Cheryl, where they raised four beautiful children.

Dennis was predeceased by his mother Susanna, his father Harold and his brother Elvis. He leaves to mourn his wife of 34 years Cheryl (Smith), daughters Kristy (Harrison Wolfe), Erin (Chris Manson), Natalie (Stephen Hextall), and son Brendan (Chelsea McMenamie), as well as grandsons Kane and Maverick Wolfe. In Newfoundland, his surviving siblings are Harold (Cindy), Roxanne (Larry), Suzanne and Kim (Marcel).

A long time member of the Royal Victoria Yacht Club, he loved being near the ocean and spending time with his family in Lake Cowichan, where he fostered his love of boating and fishing.

There will be a public memorial service for Dennis at Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday, January 17th, 2015 at 12 o’clock noon, followed by a celebration of life at the Royal Victoria Yacht Club for family and friends. Light refreshments will be served. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Canadian Mental Health Association or, locally, Our Place Society.

He will be dearly missed by friends and family from around the world, particularly those in Victoria and St. John’s.

  2. To Cheryl & family,
I was so sad to learn of Dennis’ passing in today’s paper. I have fond memories of the time I spent with you and your family each summer in Manuels so many years ago. I remember when you and Dennis first starting dating and were at university together. It is hard to believe how long it’s been since those days. Please accept our condolences on your loss.

  3. I was overwhelmed with sadness on hearing of Dr. Morgan’s passing. He had been my cardiologist for 8 years and he was exceptional. Not only did he treat my heart but he always took time to know how the rest of my “life” was going. He was professional and yet I always felt “special” when I met with him. I will miss him greatly.
My prayers go out to all of his family.
