August 12, 1954 – September 12, 2013
“It is only with the heart that one can see right – what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
Cherished mother, devoted grandmother, treasured sister and loving friend. On September 12, 2013, Diane Morris bravely took her place among the angels as she lay in the arms of her daughters, Natalie, Patricia and Dominique. Shortly after the tragic loss of her beloved husband, Don Stillman in July 2012, Diane courageously began her 9-month battle with cancer. Even through this difficult time, Diane continued to touch the lives of all who knew her with her selfless love, positive energy and shining spirit. Diane’s five precious grandchildren, Tylan, Taylor, Zachary, Louisa and Brixton will always remember her dancing and singing, her warm generous hugs and her gentle loving guidance. Born and raised in Victoria with her seven brothers and sisters, her journey led her to Sooke, BC where she and Don built their dream home. Her friends and neighbors will always remember her smiling face as she waved to them while tenderly caring for her cherished garden. Diane worked for over 35 years at Victoria General and most recently, Jubilee hospital. She took great pride in her career and saw each day as a chance to make a difference and serve her community alongside her close friends and co-workers. The family would like to dearly thank all of the staff and volunteers at the Vancouver Island Cancer Centre and the nurses, caregivers and counsellors at Victoria Hospice for your care and support throughout this difficult time. Donations to either of these societies would be gratefully accepted on Diane’s behalf.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 29, at 12:00 pm at the Royal Colwood Golf Course. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

“What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget”
May the girls find strength in the love of family & in the warm embrace of friends.
As next door neighbours my husband and I got lots of waves and smiles from Dianne on a daily basis. We were so sad for her when she lost her husband but admired the strength she showed in trying to carry on without him. She was determined that she was going to beat this cancer and I know the whole neighbourhood was rooting for her. She was simply a lovely person and we will miss her. Our condolences to her family.
I am so sorry for her loss. Diane was certainly an amazing , beautiful spirit who will be tremendously missed. Wishing all of her family much love and peace during this difficult time
Hi Girls
I was so sad to read about your Mom today. What a great picture you chose to put in the paper. We were great friends with all of you on Crease Ave and lately I did see you all up here in Twin Cedars. Myself, Lisa and Brent send all of you our condolences and we will be thinking of you in this tough time.
I am sad because my good friend has lost her mother too soon. I always enjoyed Diane’s sense of humour and will forever remember the extra special attention she gave me while I was in the hospital giving birth to my boys. May Patti and family find peace and comfort
in the coming months.
