Dianne passed away peacefully on March 10 at Royal Jubilee Hospital after battling both cancer and advanced dementia. She was born and raised in Winnipeg and also lived in Edmonton and Montreal before moving to Victoria with her family in 1977.
Dianne was predeceased by her parents, Rudy and Doris Porth; her younger brother, Lorne and her daughter, Sheila. She was passionate about her family and leaves to mourn her loving husband of over 49 years, Dennis; daughter, Dawn and grandson, Ryan, of whom she was very proud; as well as sisters in law, Cynthia Suffield (Tom) and Regina Porth; nieces and nephews, Trevor Suffield (Shoena), Kristin Suffield, Laural Porth-Jones (Richard), Greg Porth (Ali), Brock Porth (Lysa) and their families, all of Winnipeg; cousins, Beverley Cook (Tom) and Sheryl Olson (Dave) of Calgary and Sharon Walker (Frank) of Eugene OR; former son in law Mark Lindal (Jocelyn) and his daughter, Stephanie.
Dianne was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother, mother in law, daughter, sister and friend. She had a smile that lit up every room she entered. She enjoyed times spent with family and friends, and was a fabulous hostess, making everyone who came to her home feel welcome.
Dianne enjoyed many wonderful family vacations to Disney World and other places in the eastern US, the Okanagan, Hawaii, Disneyland, San Diego, Oregon and other places in the western US. She and Dennis went to Hawaii annually for over 20 years, and went to Europe and Mexico many times. Her most memorable trip was in 2014 when she and Dennis went to Australia and she fulfilled a long held dream to pet a kangaroo.
She was passionate about all her friendships, her many volunteer activities, her involvement with her sorority sisters in Beta Sigma Phi and all things to do with music, especially mentoring Ryan on the piano.
The family would like to thank all of the medical and nursing staff at 2 South-East at RJH for their outstanding care of Dianne.
There will be a celebration of life for Dianne at McCall’s Downtown, Johnson & Vancouver Streets at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 preceded by a private interment at Royal Oak Burial Park.

In a word “grace”. Dianne and Dennis shared a wonderful journey. Working at BC Buildings, and with our numerous gatherings, I got to know Dianne. My wife, Donna, and I, were always greeted warmly and Dianne would make time for a friendly visit. Lovely lady. So glad to have known Dianne and got to witness Dennis and Dianne as a loving and generous couple.
My most sincere condolences to Dennis and the family of Dianne — a lovely and gracious lady.

Beautiful, Thoughtful, Caring, Compassionate, Wonderful Sense of Humour, Grace and Charm but most of all Courage. Thank you for not only being my sorority sister, but also a friend. I think back on our visits, in Victoria and in Hawaii every time I am here, the laughter, showing us the sights, the stories, it was so wonderful. I wished on the Hawaii moon for you last night, I hope you heard.
Dianne was very special and was the best mother-in-law a guy could ask for. She treated me like a son and many times I felt like I could talk to her for advice and encouragement. She and Dennis were super Grandparents to my daughter Stephanie and their support helped her finish her university and succeed.
I will really miss our Thursday nights but I am happy she is no longer in pain. She will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.
Condolences to all family and friends of Dianne.
God bless.
Lovely lady and a nice write up about her life. She was able to do so many amazing things and visit so many places. She will be missed.
Hugs for you all.
