Passed away March 24, 2011 at age 94. Born in Cranbrook British Columbia on June 29 1916, daughter of Mabel and Robert Eley of Birmingham, England, she moved to Victoria in 1938 where she lived with her mother and sister. She insisted on living in her home until she died – a total of 73 years in the same house. She trained as a hairdresser and ran her own salon on Douglas Street until she retired. She was an avid gardener, an accomplished pianist and a great lover of animals and music. Dorie was always game for an adventure whether picnicking, boating, or travelling. She loved picking up treasures in garage sales and going for walks along Willows Beach. Doris will be lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Lorna, nephews Bob (Joan), Douglas (Judy) and nieces Elaine (Bill) and Linda (Gordon), and her many friends and neighbours. Dorie was predeceased by her siblings Evelyn, Frank and Douglas (killed in WW II). She was loving, independent and healthy – she lived a good long life.

A celebration of her life will be held at St. John the Divine Anglican Church on April 14, 2011 at 3pm. Condolences may be offered at www.mccallbros.com.
