It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doris on Thursday, October 4th, 2018, surrounded by family and love. Doris was born in 1930 on the family farm in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. Predeceased by daughter, Gloria (age 2 years), she is survived by her husband, Don (married 66 years); daughters, Mardi (Marc), Patti, Joni (Riley) and son, Wade (Sandra). Doris was also a grandmother to eleven (Etienne, Ainsley, Taylor, Reid, Alix, Jordan, Diandra, Regan, Sawyer, Madison and Rhys) and great-grandmother to two (Declan and MacEwan). Doris was the youngest of five siblings and is survived by sister, Merle. She will also be greatly missed by many other relatives and friends.
Don and Doris married in 1952 and started their family shortly thereafter. They moved their family to Victoria in 1968 and have resided in the family home ever since.
Doris loved spending time with her immediate family and also thoroughly enjoyed visiting with her many relatives and friends over the years.
Her passions included dancing the night away (with Don) and tending to her lovely garden. Her flower gardens often caught the attention of passing tour buses.
Her spirit, strength and goodness will be with us in our hearts always.
A Celebration of Doris’ life will be held at Cadboro Bay United Church, 2625 Arbutus Road, Victoria, on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Society of B.C.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Don and family,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We remember Doris as a lovely lady. God truly gives wonderful gifts.
I loved my great-Aunt Doris. She was a classy lady and always well put together. I loved the sense of adventure she had and I loved when she would come with Uncle Don out to Saskatchewan in their big beautiful bus! She was gentle and sweet and was very special. I’ll be celebrating and grieving with you all. Phyllis’ oldest, Lana

Dear Uncle Don and family,
Dan and I have always felt that you and Doris have been an example of how soulmates build a lifetime of beautiful memories together. You both have been an inspiration for us.
Auntie Doris made being loving, creative and classy all look so easy. We will forever cherish our many memories of Doris.
Our deepest sympathy and love to you, Uncle Don, and all of your family.

So very sad to lose my Auntie Doris! I have many good memories of being at her home in Moose Jaw and also visiting her beautiful home in Victoria! She was a gracious and loving host, an amazing cook, housekeeper and gardener. My mom Merle is feeling the great loss of her “little sister”! I pray that my Uncle Don and cousins will be able to find comfort in their memories of such a special wife, mom, grandma, and great grandma. May the God of peace and love be with you all during this time of great loss! Love you❣
Don and Family
We extend our condolences to you and your family on the passing of Doris.
Our prayers of support are with you all.
