Doris passed away on July 8, 2025, in the home where she lived and raised her family since 1959.  Born, April 22, 1934, in Melfort, SK, she moved to Victoria in 1950 with her family where she met the love of her life, Bill Wickett, and married him on May 15, 1954.  Doris survived many trials and tribulations in her life and overcame them all with her abundant courage and strong conviction because of the depth of love she had for her family.  The loss of her beloved partner of over 70 years in November 2023 became a missing piece of her heart that never mended.  Doris is survived by her six children, Norm (Anna), Donna, Ron (Lori), Millie, Terry (Lise), Gord (Marie), 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved with all her heart.  She was the last surviving sibling in the Flett family and is survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.  Doris loved Bill’s family as her own and is survived by his sisters, Millie and Evelyn (Steve) and their families.

Family was everything to Doris and her greatest love and joy was sharing and spending time with her family.  She was truly a matriarch, and celebrations were always large events at the Wickett household – Doris was always at work weaving her love into all the preparations days or even weeks before each gathering ensuring everyone felt welcomed and blessed.  The Wickett home was an open door to all, and the neighbourhood children always detoured on their way home from school to share in the warm baked goods that Doris always had waiting on the counter.  And those neighbourhood children continued dropping by throughout the years to visit Mr. and Mrs. Wickett.

After their children were grown, Doris and Bill travelled the world on their cruise ship tours that they both genuinely enjoyed.  Bill was Doris’ best friend.  She had a small circle of close friends, most of which have passed over, and with whom she will now be meeting up with again, to reminisce all the times they shared together as friends on the ice at the curling rinks and fairways of the golf courses.

Doris will be dearly missed by her loved ones, but all are happy she is, again, with her greatest love.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.
