It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearly loved mother, Doris May Worthington (nee Exton) on June 15, 2011. Born in Victoria May 17, 1921. Predeceased by her husband Morris Worthington in 1980, and her brother Cyril Exton. Mom is survived by her loving children, Marie Rieger (Ross), Ann Graham (David) and Fred Worthington (Marlane); grandchildren, Rory, Jenny, Mark, Tamira, Tracy; step grandchildren, Shane and Tara; brother, Stan Exton (Peg); seven great grandchildren and step grandchildren. Mom raised the children in the home she helped build 63 years ago. She was an avid gardener, loving the beauty of the flowers and the bounty of the garden. Mom had a very generous nature and devoted herself to her family. Mom lived at Berwick House for the past 5 years where she enjoyed the company of new friends, playing bingo, cribbage, doing puzzles and other activities. She took pleasure in reading and knitting and her beloved “Canucks”. A special heartfelt thanks to the Nursing staff and therapists on seven south at RJH. Dr. B. Pound and the staff at Hospice who made mom’s final journey a peaceful comfortable one.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice or Cancer Foundation. A Memorial Reception will be held at MCCALL BROS. FAMILY CENTRE at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 24, 2011, Vancouver & Johnson Street. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com.

To Fred, Ann & Marie & Family- We were so sorry to learn of Doris’ death. Mum loved to talk with her and together they would figure out the daily Jumble. She was a wonderful gardener and shared her bounty. I remember her giggle and how kind she was to everyone. Dad would not eat chilli but when Doris made it one New Year’s Eve he enjoyed every bite. She was loved by everyone and will be missed.
God bless you all, Mary & Elaine Mason & Carla Moffatt
