Passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, predeceased by her husband, Charles on October 7, 2000. Mum was born on January 3, 1907 and raised on a small farm in Crofton. Dorie will be remembered by her daughters, Louise, Anne, Barbara (John), Catherine (Kon), Charis (Brian); sisters-in-law, Rosalie and Marion; 14 grandchildren; 24 great and great-great-grandchildren and a large extended family. Mum loved hiking in the woods, making pottery, reading and playing crib but her greatest joy was in her family. We all hold wonderful memories of Dorie, our mum and granny.

A Memorial Service will be held in MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012.

I have many memories of you granny. When I was a child I remember how in awe I was at the way you shuffled a deck of cards, and how you never sat still at the dinner table, always jumping up to get something for someone else. When I was older I enjoyed visiting you for afternoon tea and a game of 1 to 10 and back again because I couldn’t play crib, and in the last few years how your face lit up at the sight of my son. I will miss you.

She most certainly won her last game, in fact the last three on Easter Sunday. Her mind and her spirit were with her right to the end!

    Love you granny.

Good memories of Dorie are visiting at her home in Oak Bay and playing crib with her.
She welcomed Mom and I into her home while my Dad was sick in the hospital in Victoria to stay overnight with her to give us a chance to visit Dad without travelling back up Island.
She always was interested in each and everyone that came by.
May she rest comfortably and in peace.
