October 1, 1927 – March 18, 2012
Mum passed peacefully at home with her son and daughter at her side after battling cancer with grace, strength and dignity. Predeceased by her ever-loving husband, Adam and son, Bill, she will be greatly missed by son, Jim (June); daughter, Linda; daughter-in-law, Judy; grandchildren, Jim, Bill, Scott, Nicole, Ray, Kristie (Shane); and great granddaughters, Makenna, Kali and Maya.
Dorothy was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and immigrated with her twin sons to Victoria BC in 1953 to reunite with her husband, Adam. She remained a true Scot in spirit throughout her life. Dorothy enjoyed socializing with family and friends, dancing, bowling, gardening and travelling south in the winter months. Her love of animals and their attachment to her was truly heart-warming.
A special thanks to all caregivers for their support and kindness.
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves memories no one can steal.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA, 3150 Napier Lane, Victoria, BC V8T 4V5
A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 1:00 pm. A reception will follow in McCall’s Family Centre.

Judy Utterson Mum, I hope you are with Adam, Bill, and Nan now. Will miss you. Say “hi” and give my love to Bill. I miss him so. Mum you fought a good battle and through it all you had a positive attitude. There is something to be learned by that. I will always have good memories of you, Mum. Love Judy (daughter-in-law)

June Utterson We will miss mum very much. She fought a great battle and never complained. She was always up to having fun even when she did not feel well. She was a great pleasure to be around with a great sense of humor. She had some great stories which I for one really enjoyed listening to. Even three days prior to her passing she was smiling and making jokes. What a trooper. The family were lucky to have her in our lives and will miss her so much. We will always have wonderful memories of her and a day will not pass without us thinking about her. Love daughter-in-law. June
I’m so sorry to read in this morning’s newspaper that your Mum passed away. Your Mum and Dad were good friends with my Mum and Dad (Anne & Andy Smith). All proud Scots.
They had many good times together dancing at the Imperial Club.
My Dad is in hospital and won’t be going home, we’re waiting for a Care Facility placement. He has declined so quickly, but still not too bad for 94 years of age. My sincerest sympathy to everyone.
