Dorothy June Ellis died peacefully on June 10, 2026 in Victoria, BC at the age of 93 years. Dorothy is survived by her three daughters, (Heather, (Randy), Susan and Elizabeth) and her eight grandchildren (Jenny, Jordie, Jamie, Emily, Sarah, Sophie, Katie and Kelsey) and nine great grandchildren (Sophia, Jack, Billie Ann, Boone, Bradlie, Knox, Rory, Casey & Kieran).

Dorothy was born on a farm in Pincher Creek, Alberta in 1932 where she grew up with her two brothers (Allistair and Arnold), riding her horse to a small country school, playing with her dog, Crusoe, and doing her chores of collecting eggs from the chicken coop (which she hated because they pecked her little arms).

She went to high school in both Creston, BC and Kelowna, BC before she moved to Calgary where she worked as a clerk in an insurance company. She met Harry (Bud) Ellis in Calgary, whom she married. Dorothy subsequently became part of the life of a Royal Canadian Air Force family, moving across the country to various air force bases and ultimately ending up in Victoria upon Bud’s retirement in 1971. Sadly, Bud predeceased her in 1977.

Dorothy loved playing tennis and spending time with her close group of friends and her family. She loved roses and geraniums and the colour purple. She always had an eye for antiques which she had beautifully arranged in her home. Dorothy always had a sense of style and was one of few people who could successfully sport a jaunty hat (particularly a red one!) During the past several decades, she was blessed to spend many years with David Brown, whom she had first known in her high school years in Kelowna. Dorothy and David enjoyed many joyful, wonderful times together on their world travels and daily walks and activities.

Heather, Susan and Elizabeth would like to especially thank the wonderful staff at Glengarry Hospital for the kindness and caring they extended to their mother during her time there. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Royal Oak Burial Park at a later date, in the presence of her daughters.
