Born in Lloydminster, the fifth of ten children to Harold and Evelyn Floyd, Dorothy (Dot) grew up in Northern Saskatchewan.
Moving to Halifax after nursing school, she met Gerald, who was interning at the same hospital. After a short courtship, they married in 1950, a marriage that would last 65 years. Moving between Nova Scotia and BC, they settled in Victoria in 1956.
Dorothy enjoyed a variety of sports including tennis, curling, swimming, skiing and lawn bowling. She was a great entertainer for family and friends. She and Gerry travelled extensively making new friends wherever they went. She continued to make friends after going into care in 2023.
After a brief illness, she passed away peacefully with family at her side. Dorothy is survived by her children Pat, Debbie (Brock), and Jen (Ken), grandchildren Harley (Theresa), Eric, Kelly, Jessica, Sarah and Clara, and great grandchildren Wyatt, Olivia and Hunter, her sister Margaret and two sisters in law, Donna and Dorothy. The family would like to thank all her wonderful caregivers at Jubilee House.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dorothy’s favourite charity, the Vancouver Island Marmot Recovery Foundation.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Norm and Colleen Jones We were so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. Although we did not know her personally, she was obviously a great mom as she raised a wonderful daughter.
Keep the happy memories close and she will always be with you. You are in our thoughts.
Dennis & I have appreciated the years of friendship we shared with my Aunt Dorothy & Gerry May and their family.
We enjoyed swapping travel stories, and many happy memories were made during a ski week at their Whistler condo, shared visits in each other’s homes, and several Floyd Family reunions. For me, it was a seven-decade friendship with my aunt and uncle and those memories will always be cherished.
Sincere condolences to my cousins: Patrick, Deb, & Jen & their families. Our thoughts are with you.
