I am truly saddened to hear of Doug’s death. Although it’s been several years since I’ve seen him, I remember his warm smile, kind heart and gentle ways. Gone from this world too soon, he had a quiet wisdom that is rare in this fast-paced world. I offer my sincere condolences to the Jones family for your loss and hope that in time your sorrow is eased by good memories of Doug.

To Doug’s family – thinking of all of you during this sad time. May you find comfort in the memories you hold in your heart.

My deepest condolences to Doug’s family, during this time of such tragedy.
Doug has been a good neighbour, we enjoyed many conversations, over the fence, meeting out on the trails during a hike, or shopping for groceries at the market. He said he enjoyed watching the antics of my horse “Kenny” next door. I will miss meeting him out on a sunny afternoon hike. I always enjoyed his quick wit and hearing of his own horse stories, when he had his own horses on the property. Brad and I will miss seeing him around.

My Uncle Doug was a great man. I will always remember all the walks we went on while we were down visiting. I will remember him taking me on his Harley when he came up to visit in Chetwynd or how he jogged all the way to our house from town. I will remember our long talks, swimming at Thetis Lake and the Juan De Fuca pool, eating at The Green Cuisine & the Noodle Box, feeding the seals at Oak Bay Marina, walking on the Breakwater, searching used bookstores and taking my kids to the park. He was an amazing man who accomplished amazing things. Uncle Doug you will be missed and you will always be remembered.
Love you, your neice and great nephews, Jen, Jadyn, Linden and James

We are truly saddened to hear of Doug’s death. He was a true friend and neighbour in the highlands during our residence there. We pastured our 2 donkeys and horse with Doug over many summers and Doug looked over them as his own and gave us many laughs and enjoyable conversations of his own days with horses on the property. He will be truly missed as a Highland resident and neighbour. Our thoughts are with family and friends.
