May 5, 1932 – February 14, 2010
After practising Dentistry in Victoria for over 40 years, our Denny has “GONE FISHING”. Born in Victoria, he is predeceased by parents, Chester (Chet), Denise and brother, Irving (Irv). He leaves his loving wife, Evelyn; chosen sons, Dr. Bruce Peglar, Victoria, Murray Peglar, Calgary; nephew, Robert (Roberta) Dowman, Alanna and Kyle Potsdam, N.Y.; nieces, Teresa (Greg) Wakabayashi, Henry, NYC, New York; Denise (John Paul) Holecka, Noah, Vancouver; sister and brother-in-law, Lynda (Richard) Campbell, Keith, St. Catharine’s, Ontario and many relatives of the Michaux families, Victoria. Denny loved all sports: skiing, tennis, curling, golf at Royal Colwood but his favourite was fishing with either Roger or Irv. A very special thank you to the wonderful caring staff at Kiwanis Pavilion; The Friday Lunch Group and their families; The Gyro Bridge Club and wonderful friends who visited while Denny was at home. Daryll Leswick has become a member of our family through his thoughtful caring and support throughout Denny’s difficult journey with Lewey Body Dementia.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Cathedral on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 12 Noon. Interment with Chet and Denise at Royal Oak Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion Foundation, 3034 Cedar Hill Road or Alzheimer’s Society would help others.
“We will remember his infectious laugh and wonderful smile always!”

We’re so very sorry to hear that Denis has passed away.

My deepest condolences to you on the loss of your loved one. Dr. Dowman was not only a skillful dentist but he possessed the characteristics of a person who related to his patients in a thoughtful and benevolent manner so necessary in his chosen profession. My thoughts are with you.

Cairine and Fred Green Dear Ev, Bruce and Family:
We send our sincere condolences to you at this time. “Denny’s” passing truly marks the end of an era in our lives going back over 30 years. He was a gifted professional and an all around kind, generous and thoughtful person. We remember his devilish grin and quiet sense of humour, especially after his occasional “smoke” break in the little x-ray room at the practice. He was a wonderful family dentist and we will always remember him with fondness and deep respect.
Sincerely, Cairine, Fred and Family
Evelyn, it was with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our friend Denny…During the thirteen years that Allan shared an office with Denny we came to love and respect him. We shared many special times together and nothing would have kept us from paying our respects to Denny at his funeral but unfortunately we were out of the country for our daughters’ wedding. Please accept our condolences, Evelyn, you and Denny have been in our thoughts frequently in the last few years. Love, Hanne and Allan Kuzyk
