Surrounded by the love of his family, Bob passed away on June 12, 2026.
A beloved husband, father and grandfather, he leaves behind a legacy of love, strength and kindness.
Bob was born in Patna, India on July 18th. 1934. He obtained his medical degree in 1956 and a Master of Surgery degree in 1959. He came to the USA in 1961 for surgical training. In 1963 he married Helen Baker. They moved to Canada in 1966, settling in Victoria. Bob obtained the specialist qualification in Orthopedic Surgery (Canada) in 1968 and started practice in Victoria in 1969. In 1970 he obtained the specialist qualification in Orthopedics in the USA.
His interests included sports, photography, music, cooking, guitar and blackjack.
He was predeceased by his parents Amy and Shew, grandson Jacob, his sister Dr. Meera Banaji (Eddie) of Wenatchee, Washington and an infant sister, Sheila. He is survived by his wife Helen, daughters Jennifer (Michael), Sheila (Jean-Marie), Catherine (Mark) and granddaughter Olivia. Other family members include nephew, Darius Banaji (Elizabeth) and niece, Nilufer Wheeler (Justin, Ryan and Cameron) all of USA.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Cross Church, 4049 Gordon Head Rd, on September 12, 2026, at 10:30am. Reception to follow.
