September 3, 1931 – September 16, 2011

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Harvey who died peacefully in Victoria, BC. Born in Ramona, Ontario Harvey had a long happy life spending many years in Orillia marrying his young sweetheart Marion McMartin and working at National Grocers. He enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, time spent with family and the autumn beauty of the Muskokas. With future prospects bright Harvey and family moved to Victoria in 1971 where he worked for Hudson Bay Wholesale and Cormark and engaged in his favourite hobbies of gardening, travelling to Hawaii and Las Vegas, socializing with friends and neighbours, relaxing sipping cider with friend Cara and trying his luck at the casino.

Harvey was predeceased by his loving wife Marion in 1996 and brother Thomas in 2009 and will be greatly missed by his family, friends and Scout the dog. He will always be in our hearts and is survived by his daughter, Debbie Watkis (Ken) of Victoria, his brothers, Orrie and Everett of Ontario, and nieces and nephews Dana Zinser of Philadelphia, Sharon Collins and friend Lynda from Chilliwack, Penny Metcalf (Jim), Danny, Bruce, Sandy, Joann and Jonna of Ontario, Erin and Ashley of Sidney, BC, and Steven of Alberta and families.

A Funeral Service will be held in MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 11:00 am with a reception in McCall’s Family Centre. Interment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park. Donations, if desired would be appreciated to S.P.C.A., 3150 Napier Lane, Victoria, BC V8T 4V5. Dear: Debbie and Kenny. I am sorry to hear of Harvey’s passing. Paul and I thoughts are with you.

I have enjoyed many wonderful times with your Dad, Debbie. I used to love it when we would all get together for Dinner as a family. Your Dad’s smile was contagious.

I Love you both Debbie and Kenny. Sorry that I can’t be with you today, but I am thinking of you both.

Harv was our favorite uncle, a great friend and buddy! He could always put a smile on your face when you were down, he had a terrific sense of humour. Harv had many interesting stories of his travels and jobs, he was a kind and thoughful person, very openminded, never judging people, he was always a gentleman who still opened the door for women. We will miss our visits with him and remember him often.

    Love Sharon and Linda
