Grant and Susie, I think you know how I felt about your mother.

From the first time I meant Eileen almost 30 years ago I was drawn to her. In the years before she married my father in 1983, whenever I saw I would always light up and hug her. I loved that she would light up and hug me back.

I always knew that she was the right woman for my Dad (and for me).

Eileen was such an intelligent woman. She read the newspaper most days. Whenever I would visit on Sunday night, we would always watch 60 Minutes. To this day I still enjoy 60 Minutes because of her.

In her later years Eileen was a CNN fan. She would often have the CNN station on the whole day when she was up.

Such a classy lady. There was always a pin or a scarf and earrings to go with an outfit. I loved to see her wearing creamy beige and red. I remember that she had red boots and a red umbrella.

Eileen would always tell you “How She Saw It”. Whether it was her opinion of a meal at a restaurant or whether it was my appearance she would tell me. I enjoyed her honesty.

I loved her stories of her childhood. I remember most of them in detail. My favourite image of her is ice skating on a frozen pond in a New Brunswick winter.

When my father passed away in 1989, Eileen and I stayed closed. She was a sweetheart.

I will miss Eileen but I know that she is now free and having a good time in heaven.

God bless you both Grant and Susie.
