CHAPMAN, Eily Margaret (nee Miles) passed peacefully into her Lord’s presence on September 29. 2009 at Mt. Tolmie Hospital where she had been lovingly cared for during the past three years. Eily was born in Victoria on August 23, 1917 and married Chuck Chapman in 1939. In addition to raising her family, she worked for many years at Woodward’s. Eily was deeply motivated by her love for God which manifested itself in organizing Bible Clubs and teaching Sunday School to children as well as many other church activities. Eily leaves her daughters, Clara (Chapman), Jan (Ray) Mau, Fern (Larry) Johnson; grandchildren, Orianne (Thomas) Salley, Cara (Jonathon) Bratseth, Tyler (Elena) Johnson, Timothy (Elizabeth) Johnson; great-grandson, Simon Bratseth; foster daughter, Bonnie Mayer and family; Bev and Wolfe, Richard and Crystal, Jennifer and Andrew and great-grandchildren. Eily will be remembered as a “prayer warrior” not only by her family, but by the many others whose lives were touched and changed by her prayers. We would like to thank the staff at Mt. Tolmie for the tenderness and humour with which they carried out Mom’s care and for being a part of our lives. You enriched Mom’s last days immeasurably!

A Service of Remembrance will be held in McCall Bros. Family Chapel, Johnson & Vancouver Streets on Friday, October 9, 2009 at 2:30 pm.

Jan and Ray I don’t know if you remember me. I was a friend of your parents from the Victoria Alliance Church when I attended there as a teen in the late 80’s. Your mom was a lovely lady and like a grandma to all the young people in the congregation. I still have your dad’s “sports card” and often tell people about my friend the olympian. I have such fond memories of them both and though I am saddened to hear of your loss am rejoicing that they are together once again reunited thanks to our saviour Jesus Christ. My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family as you work through this time of loss and sorrow. God bless you, Sherry
