June 1, 1918 – November 7, 2011

With saddened hearts and cherished memories, we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, Elaine Lynch. She was a kind and gracious lady who dedicated her life to faith, family, and caring for others.

Elaine was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan, the eldest of eight children. During the war years she moved to Vancouver where she met her husband, Larry. As a navy wife she made a loving home for her family in both Halifax and Victoria. Over the years she was employed by Eaton’s and Sears in the accounts department. She was respected for her leadership roles in the Catholic Women’s League and the St. Louis College Mother’s Club.

Elaine was predeceased by Larry, her beloved husband of 53 years; her sisters Irene, Isabel, and Margaret; brothers Jim and Martin. She will be greatly missed by her children Jim (Christine) Lynch, Pat (Ray) Saxon, John (Jeri) Lynch; grandchildren Mike (Danielle), Wayne, Mark, Erin (Dale), Kristen (Ryan), Greg (Jadeen), Neil (Jenny), and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Stella (Jim) Mumford, Marion Jorgenson; sisters-in-law Joan (Elton) Murphy, Helen Roach, and many nieces and nephews.

Elaine is fondly remembered for her enthusiastic and warm embrace, and her gifts of homemade apple sauce and cookies. Her strength of character and positive nature endeared her to her children and extended family; she was a remarkable role model in our lives. The family would like to thank Dr. Wray and the kind, respectful staff at Rest Haven Lodge, Sidney.

Prayers will be offered at McCall’s Floral Chapel, Johnson and Vancouver Streets, Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, November 17, 2011 at 12:10 p.m. at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, 851 Old Esquimalt Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, or a charity of your choice. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com.
