It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our Dear Wife, Mom, Grandmother and Great Grandmother – Joan Warnock.

Joan fought a brave fight with a brain tumor which finally took her life. On August 26th, she passed away peacefully and surrounded by her loving family. She was a sweet and wonderful woman with a beautiful smile and so grateful to all those who cared for her. Our special thanks to Dr. Jong and the wonderful staff at The Priory for their loving care.

Joan was born in Armagh City, North Ireland. She immigrated to Canada in May of 1966 with her husband Jim and her four lovely children, Christine, Miriam, Alan and Alma. Joan was a proud Grandmother of seven, Casey, Geneva, Dylan, Brittany, Alyssa, Matt and Jillian; and a Great Grandmother to Jadyn, Haileigh, Madison, Macy and Levi. She is also survived by her loving husband Samuel James Warnock (Jim). In North Ireland, she is survived by her sister Anne and brother David and numerous nieces and nephews and family friends.

Joan was a very creative woman who loved her gardening and flowers. She had an amazing voice and there were always many requests to her to sing – especially beautiful hymns. We will miss her gentle spirit and Irish lilt. Her family takes great peace in knowing that she rests securely in the arms of her Lord and Saviour, is free from pain and will have eternal joy.

A graveside service will be held at Royal Oak Burial Park, 4673 Falaise Drive, on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 1:00pm.  All friends and family welcome.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Jim, I am so sorry for your loss. I have been out of town for three weeks and when back at the Priory today I learned of Joan’s home-going. I rejoice with her but feel very sad for you and your family. May you experience God’s tender love and comfort in a special way as you grieve.
    My prayers are with you,
Jeanne Luther (Spiritual Care volunteer at the Priory)

Joan always welcomed me with open arms with her beautiful smile, the sparkling glint in her eyes, and I always loved the Irish lilt when she said my name. She loved her family with all her heart. She’s free of suffering, and I’m quite sure is singing with the choir in heaven. My love to you all.

To Mr. Warnock (Jim) and the whole family; We were indeed saddened by the passing of Joan (Mrs. Warnock to us). We have a special connection to Joan as both of our birthdays are also on July the 7th. I remember Mrs. Warnock as a kind and warm mom who tried to please her family through cooking up a storm in the kitchen. I remember wanting to go home with Miriam after school so we could indulge in pies and scones before going out for a bike ride. I remember her beautiful singing voice and he laughter and smiles. She had a good sense of humor. May you rest in peace Joan and we know you are safe in the arms of your Heavenly Father. Kenn and Anya Dodd
