September 15, 1923 – June 3, 2012

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Papou. Born in Ioannina, Greece, Elias immigrated to Canada in 1957 where he met and married Maria, his loving wife of 54 years. Together they ran a successful business, the Burnside Shoe Re-Nu, before retiring to spend more time with their family and friends. Elias regularly attended the Greek Orthodox Church and was a dedicated member of the Greek community. He loved fishing, gardening, and taking frequent trips to Greece. Elias was a man of few words but they were always well-chosen and filled with truth and wisdom. He is survived by his wife, Maria; daughters, Vicky (Peter) and Niki (Andrew); grandchildren, Johnny, Elias (Adia), Maria and David and great-grandchildren, Aria and Avery. We will miss your incredible strength, your passion for life and most of all, your love.

Prayers will be offered in MCCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, at 6:00 pm on Thursday June 7, 2012. The Funeral Service will be conducted by Father Kostas Kaltsidis in the Greek Orthodox Church of the Saviour, 4648 Elk Lake Drive at 1:00 pm on Friday June 8th and will be followed by a celebration of life in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Greek Orthodox Church of the Saviour, 4648 Elk Lake Drive. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Words cannot express our sadness and regret to have to offer our deepest condolences for the loss of our dearest friend Elia. When we moved to Victoria, we were blessed with meeting Elia and his family. We quickly became the best of friends. All the years spent together sharing our stories and laughter will always be cherished. These are the times that remain the most precious in our hearts and will never be forgotten. Even after having moved away, our bond remained strong. We value every moment we spent together. We are so sorry we cannot be with you at this time but please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We will miss him. With all our love, Kosta and Koula.

I was sad to hear of the passing of Elias. Having grown up in Victoria we had the pleasure, through my parents, of knowing him and his family. My family spent a considerable amount of time with the Ntzoutis family at their home and also at Burnside Shoe Re-Nu. Elias was kind enough to teach me how to fish. Of course, his patience in showing me how to fish was rewarded with numerous bouts of laughter. Especially after I attempted to put bait on my first hook and I almost jumped over the boat because I thought the worm bit me.
I visited Victoria some years ago and was pleasantly surprised to hear that my friends Angelo and Chris had arranged a fishing outing. When I arrived to board the boat, I was extremely happy to see a surprise participant, Elias. It took very little time before Elias reminded me to watch out for those nasty worms.
My sincere condolences to the Ntzoutis family.
    ZOI S’ESAS.
