It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Elizabeth Middleton-Jones. Leaving this world far too soon at the age of 53 on June 26, 2025, Beth was a vibrant and loving person, who touched the lives of all who knew her.
As a dedicated elementary school teacher, she had the privilege of helping to shape the minds of young children and instil a love of learning in each of her students. Following her graduation from the University of Victoria, Beth started her professional journey in the UK before returning to Canada, working at Upper Canada College, Branksome Hall, and most recently at her alma mater, St. Michaels University School. She brought energy and creativity to each classroom, always going above and beyond to ensure that every child felt supported and valued. Her enthusiasm, passion, and kindness were truly inspiring, and her positive impact on students, colleagues, and the school communities will be felt for years to come.
Above all else, she was devoted to her family, with a love that knew no bounds. She poured her heart and soul into creating a warm and nurturing home for her husband, Justin, and two children, Ella and Cameron, whom she loved unconditionally. Her smile lit up the room, and her laughter was infectious. Beth had a way of making everyone feel loved and cherished, and her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled.
Born in Brockville, Ontario to Keith and Teresa Middleton on November 30, 1971, she is survived by her loving husband Justin Jones, children Ella and Cameron, parents Keith and Teresa Middleton, older sister Anne (Adam) Middleton-Gerber, younger sister Christina Middleton, and a large extended family, including many relatives and friends who will dearly miss her. She is preceded in death by her brother, Andrew Middleton.
Despite facing a terrible and unrelenting disease, Beth approached each day with courage and grace, never losing her sense of humour or her ability to bring joy to those around her. We would like to thank the medical teams at the Royal Jubilee and UBC Medical Hospitals for their amazing support and assistance.
Though we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, surrounded by love and light. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and we will hold her memory close as we navigate this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 2:00pm, with Shelagh MacKinnon as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Beth’s name to the Victoria Literacy Connection https://victorialiteracyconnection.ca.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

I was saddened to hear of Beth’s passing. Beth and I were at St. Patricks’s school together and I will always remember her for her kindness, her smiles and for being a wonderful elementary school friend. It is many years since we connected last, but on November 30th she will often pop into mine and my mom’s minds, on her birthday. She made a lasting impression and will always be remembered for her friendliness, kindness and warmth.
My condolences to the Middleton family, Justin, Ella and Cameron
You are in my thoughts, sending light and love
2019 seems so long when we were all together out in Victoria. The Bbq at Anne’s, dinner at my aunts (your parents) and our kids played together; sharing laughs while Justin and I shared scotch over music trivia.
Safe passage Beth, your Brother, your Aunt (my mother) and others await; open armed!
Sincere condolences from
Stephen, Andrea, Anderson and Lillian
I am so deeply saddened by this news. Beth was such a gracious person who had the biggest heart and smile. She lit up a room. While I knew and played sports with both Beth and Anne in our SMU days, we reconnected more recently through kids and sports. I loved running into her and the family at soccer and regattas. I loved our easy chats, laughs, and catch ups.
Sending so much love to Justin, Ella, Cameron and Anne and the rest of her family and all who knew and loved her as you navigate this difficult time.

This is devastating news. Though we weren’t super close, whenever our paths crossed we had engrossing conversations and I always adored these brief moments.
She will never be forgotten.
Dear Anne, I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Beth. Although I don’t believe I ever met Beth, I know how much she meant to you & your family. She will be dearly missed. My thoughts are with you and your family during this incredibly difficult time. Her legacy lives on in the people she touched and the memories you hold close. With deepest sympathies, Cathy & Stephen Quinn.
I am so sorry for your loss. Beth was a classmate at SMUS. The last time I saw her was 2 years ago when Justin brought her to the reunion. Despite her medical status she was smiling, laughing, funny, and seemed to recognize most everyone who came up to her (or at least she made us feel that way!)
I’ll always remember her positivity and kindness. Thank you Justin for bringing her that day, it meant a lot to all of us to see her again.
To Beth’s immediate and extended Family
Recognizing that the loss of a loved one is a difficult burden, I cannot imagine the sense of loss you are having to endure, with the passing of one so vibrant and so early in life.
Take comfort in knowing your grief is shared, even though it cannot be relieved.
Justin, Ella and Cameron, please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of Beth. I just learned of her passing, and am both surprised and saddened. She was a lovely, friendly neighbour, whose smile lit up her beautiful face. It is so hard to lose someone so special, and my heart goes out to you all. I am thinking of you – I know how hard it is to lose someone so important to you.
Please accept our sincere condolences to your entire family.
I was fortunate to help coach both Ella and Cameron in soccer over several years. (Both are amazing and talented young people) Beth was regularly on the side lines as a proud parent. She offered unwavering positive support to her children and to the coaching staff…..which included Justin for a few years! I’ll remember Beth with a huge smile proudly watching her children play soccer.
You are in our thoughts at this most difficult time.
