It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ellinor Agnes Havlasek (nee Thomik) on June 20, 2013 in Victoria, BC at the age of 83. She adored the beautiful city of Victoria and her daily walks to the cathedral and the harbour, often stopping for tea and a visit with the girls at Murchies. She participated in her church, strata council, and the Engineers’ Wives Club and will be fondly remembered by her many acquaintances. Predeceased by her husband Milo, her brother Rev. Josef Thomik, and her sister Doris Weber, Ellinor is lovingly remembered by her son Mark,daughter-in-law Valerie, grandchildren Joseph and Katerina, sister Gisela, and niece Yvonne.

I just wanted to say how sorry I am about the loss of your Mother, Ellinor. She was a regular customer of mine when I was a bartender at a restaurant many years ago in downtown Victoria, and I recently started working at the Bay Centre and had the pleasure of seeing her again on many occasions. She was such a lovely woman and always spoke so highly of her family, especially her twin grandchildren. We hadn’t seen her for several months but she was constantly on my mind. I had sincerely hoped that I would get the chance to see her lovely face again. I was extremely saddened to hear about her passing today when I returned from a trip abroad. My sincere condolences for the loss of such a gentle and caring soul.

Ellinor and her husband became patients in my dental practice very early in my career. Seeing Ellinor’s name on my schedule lightened my day and that of my staff. She was one of the most pleasant, gentle individuals that I have ever met and I will very much miss being able to see her and share a few moments, as we had done for so many years. She was an honor to know.
