Elsie Coles

May 31, 1927 – August 26, 2011

With great sadness we announce the passing of a very special woman. Predeceased by her husband, Ron; Elsie will be missed and remembered by sons, Walter (Mary), Jamie (Annette); daughter, Sylvia (Jaymie); grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.

Elsie loved to sing, dance and perform – a true entertainer. She was also a people-person and over her lifetime developed a large circle of loyal friends. She had a genuine concern for the welfare of others; volunteering for various charities and working with special needs adults. Elsie will be remembered and missed for her sense of humor and enthusiasm for life.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 2, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church on North Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Victoria Symphony. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com.

  1. Although we did not know Elsie personally, we got to know her a little through Sylvia and Jaymie. I know you will miss her and our sympathy and prayers go out to all of her family and friends.

    We were so saddenened to learn of your mom’s passing. We have so many fond memories of our Aunt Elsie over the years. She always had a way of adding cheer to every family gathering. Our thoughts are with you all on the passing of your Mom. We have so many fond memories of your Mom and Dad. They were both so kind to our three boys. We will never forget the venison that Ron caught and Elsie cooked for us.
    Our deepest sympathies,
    Bowman, Susan, Jeffrey, Jordan and Christopher Louis

  4. Dear Walter, Jamie and Sylvia,
    We were so saddened to hear of Auntie Elsie’s passing. Our memories are full of all the times our families spent together over the years. Her danish pastry was as true treat and devoured with relish by all of us!! She held a very special place in our family. She always made us feel welcome even if we hadn’t seen her in a while, and was interested in catching up with all that we and our families were doing. She will be very much missed by us all.
    With much love,
    Virginia, Parker and Paul

  7. To Walter, Jamie and Sylvia;
    Although it has been many years since I last enjoyed your Mother’s good nature and sense of humour, I will never forget her constant smile and ease with everyone around her. It is hard to lose a Mother such as yours and my heart goes out to you all.

  8. I am truly saddened to hear the loss of Aunt Elsie, she was a true lady and always fun to be around. She was always so kind and would show time to all the “kids”. She will be missed. I have many pictures of her over the years if you are interested please feel free to e-mail me and I will get them to you. xoxoxo

  9. Elsie was loved and admired by all who knew her for her kindness, positive spirit, and generous interest in others. She was a friend to two generations in our home – Bonnie the Mom, and Cameron and Dylan the Dancers – who grew up with her as being part of their extended tap dancing family.
    We are sadly unable to attend Elsie’s memorial service as we are in Vancouver at the International Tap Festival – but know that in Elsie’s heart and spirit she will be dancing along side us with no regrets.
    She was a truly beautiful lady and we will miss her.

  10. A truly good soul. Many fond memories.
