Cavazzoni, Enzo passed away suddenly August 15, 2012 in Victoria, BC at the age of 80. Words can hardly express his contributions to life, while he embarked on a great global journey to provide his loved ones with better lives. Born in Genova, Italy on March 2, 1932, Enzo quickly stood out as a child, eventually graduating in Mechanical Engineering while competing for the Italian National Waterpolo Team. A goalie for the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne, Australia, Enzo established himself as one of the greatest athletes to ever play the position. Following his retirement he began a unique, yet sometimes difficult journey to establish multinational businesses in Switzerland, Canada and the United States. Enzo’s intellect and study of history was unmatched, giving him the ability to synthesize today’s world. As a lifetime learner he continued with Master’s and Doctorate studies. His love and support for his three children was endless, allowing them to succeed in life as immigrants, without the benefit of traditional social networks or connections. But perhaps Enzo’s greatest achievement was personally caring for the love of his life, Anne-Marie “Annie”, as she battles Multiple Sclerosis for thirty five years, for it showed the true measure of his heart and soul. His deep voice, intellect, body of knowledge and larger than life presence will be missed, but his legacy will continue through his wife of fifty four years, Anne-Marie; daughters, Patrizia and Christiana; son, Marco; grandchildren, Sarah, Darcy, Alex, Margot and Isabel; brother, Luigi. We miss you Papá, but we’ll make you proud. You’ll forever be in our hearts. Enjoy heaven, you deserve it!

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 20, 2012 at Royal Oak Burial Park in Victoria, BC. Condolences may be offered below.

    Dear Enzo,

I’m so glad I got to meet you. I only wish I had more time to discuss history with you, and share another afternoon with you and Anne-Marie in Victoria. You were full of love for your family, especially your granddaughters. I will miss you, and always remember you fondly.

Ciao zio.
    Guido

    Dear Christiana,

My condolences to you, your mother, Marco and Patrizia and all your familes on your very sad loss. I only met your father on a few different occasions but he was clearly a wonderful person who cared deeply for his family. You paid a beautiful tribute to his life in the obituary and I know you will all have many warm memories to help you through this difficult time. You are in my thoughts.

    Ciao zio,
    Mauri

    To the Cavazzoni family,
I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your husband and father. Although it has been a long time since I have seen him, I remember him very well and with fondness.I will never forget how when he would encourage or congratulate me before or after a swim, he would grab my arm and I think I can still feel the pressure of his hands on my arm. He was so strong inside and out. He was truly bigger than life.
I spoke with my mother this morning, and she asked me to send her best to all of you at this difficult time. She also has warm memories .
Lisa would also like to send her sympathies to all of you.

We are all thinking of you at this difficult time.

My old friends from many years ago Marco, Patrizia and Christiana and all of those in your family I never knew. I would like to pass on my heart felt condolences to you all. The loss of your father, provider and friend who sought a new life for you in Canada when we were all so much younger will surely be missed. He achieved a great deal in his life and I know he instilled a great deal of his passion in each and everyone of you. I do not remember your father Enzo as well as the breakfasts I would have with you three and your mother before going off to John Abbott College with Patrizia. May he live in your memories for eternity and may he now rest and always look down over you to provide inspiration.

I would like to offer my deepest condolences to the family of Enzo Cavazzoni. I worked for him at Velan Inc in Montreal in the early eighties and earned my professional engineering status under him. Eventually I went on to become the Executive VP of Engineering at Velan Inc.
It is difficult for one to make the connections to someone’s personality and personal life during a short interactive period, but Enzo’s smile, his deep voice, his attentive mind and occassional comments about society in general reflected on his deeper abilities and intellectual span. I rarely look at obituaries, but this morning I did and I was saddened …I was doubtful for a moment, but then I saw his face and the dimple and I recognized him. Peace to the family and deep respect from one immigrant of 40 years in this country to another, who have been in instrumental in defining this nation.
