Passed away on March 26, 2011, at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. Eric was born on January 23, 1921, in Nanaimo, BC. He received his dental degree in 1944 from McGill University in Montreal where he graduated with top honours and the Gold Medal. While in Montreal, he met his beloved wife and soulmate, Susan. They married in Montreal on July 8, 1946 and settled in Victoria that same summer where he practised dentistry for 35 years. Eric leaves behind his loving wife, Susan; 3 children, Greg, DMD (Karen), Rick (Diane) and Debbie (David) McCall; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews in Canada and the USA and brother-in-law, Manfred (Debbie) Holl of Carmel, California. Predeceased by his sisters, Pauline and Daphne. We are forever grateful for the love, happiness and wisdom that Eric (Dad/Opa) shared with us and he will be missed dearly.
Funeral and Celebration of Eric’s life will be held at MCCALL’S FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, on Friday, April 1, at 2 pm, the Venerable Christopher Page of St. Philip’s Church officiating. Reception to follow. Donations if desired may be made to the The Vancouver Island Prostate Cancer Research Foundation, 856 Sunridge Valley Drive, Victoria, BC, V9B 5L2 or charity of choice. I am really sorry to hear the news that Dr. Gill passed away. I have many memories of him together with Mrs. Gill attending funerals at McCalls where I was always greeted with a slight head nod and handshake – the two of them always looked like a very distinguished couple.
