It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fiorenza Brollo on November 25, 2023 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC.

Fiorenza (Enza) was born in Gemona del Friuli, Udine, Italy and emigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1955. She was married on January 5, 1979 in Kitchener, Ontario. Enza was predeceased by her father, Giacomo Brollo, and her mother Maria (Forgiarini) Brollo of Kitchener. Enza was the wife of Douglas Pattison, loving mother of Julian Alexander Brollo Pattison of Vancouver, and Laura Christina Brollo Pattison of Victoria; dear sister of Daniela Brollo Michiels, dear sister-in-law of Pierre Michiels; dear sister-in law of David and Judi Pattison; and beloved Auntie of Aaron Michiels, Adam Michiels, Emily Pattison, Anne Pattison, and James Pattison.

Enza studied French at the Universities of Guelph and Waterloo, and Universite Laval. She also studied Library and Information Science at the University of Western Ontario. Enza was employed as a librarian with the Metropolitan Toronto Public Library, the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, the BC ministries of Transportation and Health in Victoria, and the BC Archives.

Enza had a passion for music and played the accordion. She was also a talented artist and mainly focused on pencil and watercolour drawings. She had many other hobbies including gardening and cooking. Enza enjoyed spending time outdoors with her family and her grand- dog Bella. She greatly enjoyed going for walks in the forest and by the ocean.

Enza was known for her generosity and her kind and caring nature, not only with her family but also with coworkers and friends. She had a Christmas tradition of baking many different delicious cookies and she would make up beautiful plates of cookie assortments with cellophane wrapping for her loved ones. She kept the Italian tradition going and would make crustoli, pizzele, and tiramisu.

Enza was a very special person and was loved by everyone who knew her. She will be dearly missed.

A ceremony for close family members, followed by interment, will take place at the Royal Oak Burial Park in mid-December.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully accepted.

I am sorry to hear of Enza’s passing. As an elementary school friend of Laura’s, she created a welcoming space where we would play, make art and bake Italian desserts with her, and occasionally got to hear her play accordion.
