On October 7, 2010 our Mom, Gramma and wife passed away peacefully surrounded by love, Mercedes, Dad, myself and Father Frank who had given her the last rites. With her strong faith and special connection with God, she was guided by angels to meet her Lord in heaven. Her spirit and on-going love will be with us long after her broken human form.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at McCall Bros. Funeral Home, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Monday, October 11, 2010 from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm, and preceding Mass on Tuesday, October 12th commencing at 1:00pm in the church.
Mom’s funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 4040 Nelthorpe Street (Saanich) Victoria, B.C. on Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at 2:00pm.
Immediately following Mass, all those attending are invited to join us for dinner at Fireside Grill, 4509 West Saanich Road, Victoria B.C. 250-479-1222
We have reserved a private room so that everyone can be together. www.firesidegrill.com
Mom is now at peace, and we will celebrate her life on October 12th here in B.C. and once again, in Brantford through a Memorial Mass upon our return.

  • Donna and Art Hartley

Our condolences to you all. It has been a very difficult time and know that you have been in our thoughts and prayers since we heard the news. It was so nice that Flo had all that time on PEI last year to spend time with family and friends.

  • Wayne Murphy

    Dear Auntie Flo:

You would have been very proud of your family as they gathered to celebrate your life and memorial mass. Your partner and navigator of 56 years, Stan, ensured all the details were looked after, and your daughter, Karen, spoke very eloquently of your life’s journey, including your recent trip from Victoria to Brantford. It was said of the latter that your presence was undeniable. We were moved to hear how your gifted granddaughter, Mercedes, held your hand and spoke to you directly, and prepared a knitted, yellow covering for your urn. Your son, Kevin, and his partner, Debbie, watched the collage of pictures that Mercedes worked so hard on the night before; 20 photo albums to work from. Your sisters, Peg and Liz , composed and recited a poem that captured their love for you. These recent memories, combined with the many stories told in your living room afterwards, will hold your family steadfast in the weeks and years ahead. We would say God’s speed, however, the host that rolled to the front of the alter during your mass, indicated to all of us present at St. Pius that you, Auntie Flo, have already passed the Pearly Gates and are enjoying life immensely — just as you did here on earth.

My last visit with Flo was not tht long ageo and at Karen’s we had the best time laughing and talking old stories and eating some fine fish – Stan was great fun sharing stories and watching the two banter back and forth was lovely really. Before that was Mother’s Day when Flo and Karen dropped in to say hello and share a pot of tea and a hug … and on Christmas Eve – I could always look forward to a surprise hello ater mid-night Mass ‘Karen, Flo and Stan’. I think Flo was one of most genuine people I have had the pleasue of knowing and I will miss her and always hold wonderful thoughts of her smile. Rest well – you are in a good place and that’s for sure. Donna
