It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our loving father, husband and brother, Fouad Majaess in the early morning of November 1st, 2020 in Victoria, B.C. Born in Bhamdoun Village, Lebanon, Fouad immigrated to Halifax, N.S. in the late 1970’s for a better life and to escape the civil war.

Fouad obtained a B.Sc. (Mathematics) and an M.Sc. (Mathematics and Computer Science) from Dalhousie University and spoke three languages fluently (Arabic, English and French). During this time, he met and married the love of his life, Evangeline, moved to Toronto and then settled with their two daughters (Namat-Maria and Gabriella) in Victoria B.C. in 1993.

Predeceased by his parents Gebrael and Souad Majaess, in-laws Konstantinos and Marouso Paravalos and his brother in-law Nazih Farah. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Evangeline [Namat-Maria and Gabriella (Fiancé Roberto)]; brothers Elias and George, sister Nehmat (Zeina, Jana and Ghina); brother and sister in-law Evangelos and Adriana Paravalos (Katerina, Christian and Natalie); Families of Fred Majaess, Spiro Matta, Halim Matta, Daoud Matta; and the Families of the Late Michael Majaess, Brahim Majaess, Sleiman Majaess, Assaad Majaess, Amin Majaess, Mary Majaess Khairallah, and Samira Matta.

Fouad was known as a very hard working, devoted and generous man, both professionally and personally. Fouad spent 32 years working as a Senior Computer Systems Analyst for Environment Canada in the Canadian Centre for Climate Modelling and Analysis division. Fouad was a loving and caring husband and father, a marriage and relationship with his wife and daughters most dream of. Although a quiet man, Fouad had a gentle smile and kindness that drew people to find comfort in him. Fouad will be missed and was dearly loved by all. His memories will not be forgotten and he will be cherished forever.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Ypapanti Greek Orthodox Church in Victoria B.C., however, due to COVID-19 guidelines, this will be a closed service. A livestream will be available for those who would like to attend virtually.

  1. Beloved Mayaess Family of the Living and of the Departed, I respected all of you and loved you all in Christ from the day I met all of you during the preplanning and preparatioins of one of you Family Members Special occasion.

    I cannot believe that our Beloved Faud is not here with us in the body. May all you you at home be comforted by the Love and Grace of God and the Prayers and Intercessions of Faud who prays ceaselessly for all of us in Heaven.

    Please have Faith, Hope and Trust in the Lord and continue to Live a True and Genuine Life in Christ for this pleases God and Faud and gives to every one of us Peace, Health and the Joy of the Lord, for “The Joy of the Lord is our Strength”. May His Memory be Eternal.

    I was deeply saddened to hear of Fouad’s passing. Fouad was always warm, gentle and kind, and I will miss the many friendly conversations with him over coffee and tireless and dedicated support he provided to the group. He will be deeply missed by his colleagues. I’m so sorry for your loss.

  3. I cannot believe this is true, tears fill my eyes. Fouad was a very kind person. I received a lot of help from him whenever I came to his office and he was always very patient when answering my questions. Fouad will not be forgotten by all of us who respected him.

  4. I’m very sorry to hear of Fouad’s passing. I’m a relative newcomer to the CCCma and Fouad was extremely welcoming and helpful as I settled in. He was one of the first people I met and he would always greet me with a warm smile and would stop by my desk to check how things were going. My sincere condolences to all of you.

    I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Cousin Fouad. I know it has been many years since I have seen him but I will always remember him fondly and am saddened that his time was cut too short. My deepest sympathies to you all.

    I have worked with Fouad for several years from Quebec and his professionalism and dedication were exceptional, always grateful for the efforts made by his colleagues

  9. My condolences to the family. I interacted with Fouad remotely while doing research work in collaboration with CCCMA in Victoria, and he left a positive impression. It is very sad that he left us early. May God rest his soul.

    Fouad is.. was a warm, so kind and gentle person. He was always there with bright smiles.. with all his heart, whenever I needed help. It was my pleasure and honour to work with him.
