August 16, 1918 – January 26, 2013
A woman of great energy and creativity Gladys Sinclair (nee Ellsmere) gently slipped away leaving her loving family and friends at age of 94. Gladys was born to the late Annie and Thomas Ellsmere in Craighurst, Ontario, where she spent her youth. In 1936 she graduated from the Toronto School of Design with a design diploma. An accomplished pianist and singer she brought joy to family, churches and choirs wherever she played. She married the late James Sinclair on September 5, 1942 and together raised their daughter who was the joy of their life. Gladys and Jim’s life adventures took them from Ontario to Florida for winters, then a big move from Barrie to Calgary and eventually Victoria to be closer to family and enjoy time with grandchildren. Gladys’ life and character will be fondly remembered by her daughter, Karen Gibson (David) and grandchildren, Fraser, Amy and Matt (Karla) who will keep her spirit alive for great granddaughters Suzanna, Isobelle and Pippa.
A celebration of Gladys’ life will be held on Thursday January 30, 2013 at 10:30 am at McCall’s Downtown, Victoria, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gladys’ memory would be appreciated to Luther Court Society, 1525 Cedar Hill Cross Road Victoria, BC. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Dear Karen and family
We continue your Mom’s legacy at the Cedar’s. I was just explaining to a new resident on Sunday evening how your Mom started the Sunday evening Hymn Sing and why we close with 110 and 111 in the little blue books. I have happy memories of practicing duets with Gladys and performing them on Sunday evening. Although she has been at Luther Court for some time she is not forgotten at the Cedars.
She was a lovely lady and I am sure that you will miss her greatly. Pat Williamson (daughter of Elsie McLeman who lived at the Cedars from 2003-2006)
