March 17, 1916 – August 5, 2009
It is with great sadness that Gladys’s family announces her passing on August 5. After many happy years in their house on Hollywood Crescent, she and her dear Frank are now enjoying their final, eternal dance together. Gladys will long be remembered for her caring nature, generosity to others and a keen sense of humour that kept everyone around her laughing. She volunteered for the Salvation Army, cooked for the Men’s Club at the Fairfield United Church, babysat and cared for many children and opened her home to several university and college students over the years. She spent many years working at the CP Empress Hotel, where she should have been the pastry chef.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia, daughter Marilyn (David), son Bob (Bella), son Ted (Danielle), daughter Helen, her sisters Helen Hunley and Betty Reid, brother Ken (Dorothy) Hunley, many grand-children, great grand-children, nieces, nephews and good friends. The family would like to say a special thank-you to the staff at Glengarry Hospital for the care that Gladys received while she was a resident there; the kindness that you showed to Gladys will always be remembered. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army would be appreciated. A memorial service will be held at the McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, 1400 Vancouver Street at Johnson, Victoria, BC, on Monday, August 10, at 1:00 pm. Reception to follow at McCall’s Family Centre.

diane poulin Gladys (Gigi) sat at my mother’s table at the Glengarry Hospital.
I would often see Gigi at lunch time and many times enjoyed her
sense of humor. She was a fine lady. We will miss her. Diane Poulin
I lived next door to Gladys and Frank on Hollywood Crescent. I have many memories of visiting with them and babysitting for Ted and Helen. I send condolences to the family and prayers that they will be blessed with happy memories.
