  • Captain Steen Jessen

My sincere condolences to Margaret-Anne and family. I was sorry to read of Glen’s passing and offer some brief comments.
In 1996 I was part of the BC Ferries International Safety Management Code implementation team, which worked for 4 years to bring the ISM Code to BC Ferries. In the opening months there was significant reluctance on the part of senior management to accept the necessity of “outside” interference in the way our safety management system functioned. With the exception of BCF President Frank Rhodes, who initiated the formation of the Team, Glen Brown was in favour of the concept from the start. His support greatly helped the resulting transition to a better Safety Culture at BC Ferries and was much appreciated by us worker bees.
Glen was a good man who was liked and respected.

Steen Jessen, Captain RCN (Ret’d) and Captain BC Ferries (Ret’d.) – former Senior Master MV Mayne Queen and Swartz Bay employee 1994-2014.
