Born in Morden, Manitoba. Passed away peacefully in Victoria, BC at Royal Jubilee Hospital.

Garry grew up in Winnipeg and joined the R.C.M.P in 1953, Regimental No. 18624. He served for 30 years, including the Musical Ride and University. Retiring as Staff Sargeant in 1984. He married his loving wife, Kerry Langtry of Duncan, BC, in April 1958 in Vancouver.

On March 15, 1962, in Terrance BC while attending the call of a bank robbery, Garry received three rifle shots to his abdomen and left leg. Before losing consciousness, he managed to disarm the robber on his escape. For his act of bravery, he was awarded the Commissioner’s Commendation and The George Medal- recognizing act of bravery in the Commonwealth.

In spite of the amputation of his left leg and wearing a large full leg prosthesis, he led a full and active life with family, friends, camping, travelling and spending lots of fun, happy times at the family farm in Duncan. He even liked dancing (with the help of a drink or two)! Fishing, adventuring and house painting with his buddies- especially Gord, who met as young constables in Burnaby in 1958. Garry just regretted not being able to be a regular policeman anymore.

He is predeceased by his sister Jean Stevenson, brothers-in-law Dennis and Mike Langtry and his daughter, Dana Frazer (October 2021). He is survived by his wife Kerry of 68 years, his daughter Erin (Martin) Galley, his sons Stuart (Gena) & Donald, our chere amie Mirka and Hilary. Also survived by his grandsons Patrick Galley & Iain Frazer, his granddaughter Claire Frazer and his great-grandson Rhylan Galley. The families of his Stevenson nieces, Langtry nieces & nephews, and many Frazer and Galder cousins and their families.

Our heartfelt thanks to all of you who have been so thoughtful & kind to our family.

Bye for now Dear Garry and be happy again. Our home feels so empty now without you.

Kerry, Erin, Stuart and Donald. I was very sorry to hear of Garry’s passing. I have fond memories or his humour and frankness, along with a few head shakes when Stuart and I may have got up to something silly.A life very well lived! He will be missed. My condolences to you all.

Dear family, we were saddened by hearing about Garry passing away. We were very lucky to be able to visit Garry and Kerry last summer with our kids, coming over from the Netherlands. I have known Garry all my life and even at his age he was still very sharp and funny when we spoke this summer. I popped in once during our stay unexpectedly and had a great chat with Garry, Kerry and Donald, such warm people and real family, I always felt welcome and at home there. We will miss seeing Garry in his corner chair with a book and a smile on his face. Our condolences to all that knew and cherished Garry. Chris, Barbara, Eloïse and Cedric
