Gordon was born in Victoria on October 5, 1927 to Herbert Austen Brown and Claudia Hall Brown. After attending Oak Bay schools, he spent 4 years in Toronto and Montreal returning home to Victoria in 1950 to the Brown Bros. family firm. Gordon thoroughly enjoyed his work and the people he worked with.
In 2009, Gordon had a stroke, which impaired both his speech and mobility. He remained good natured and happy and died comfortably at home on June 26, 2017. Gordon leaves Elspeth, his wife of 64 years, his children Elizabeth Cooper, Cynthia Cosulich and David Brown, their families and sister Susan Ross.
Rest in peace Gordon.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Philip Anglican Church, 2928 Eastdowne Road, Victoria, BC, on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at 2:00 pm. Reception to follow at the Victoria Golf Club, 1110 Beach Drive, Victoria BC.

Scott Kendrew I was saddened to read about Gordon’s passing. Please accept my condolences. Having worked for Gordon for 24 years I developed a great respect for him. I enjoyed my time with him whether talking about business or family – he was a great mentor to me. Gordon was loved by so many people and will be missed, but not forgotten.

Don Barnes I had the pleasure of working for Gordon for 8 years, and like so many of the Brown Bros. family, continue to work there today. Mr. Brown was a true gentleman, who definatley had his staff’s back. Although he stopped coming in to the office after 2009, his presence was always felt.
He will be missed.

Kathy Blanchard I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Browns passing. He is a man that will be truly missed. I enjoyed my time working with him and will forever remember his kind heart.

I am deeply saddened to read of Gordon’s passing. Of all the people I have met through life, my respect for Gordon remains second to none. He was like a second father to me. A wonderful, humble and extremely decent gentleman with large dash of humour mixed in.
Rest in peace Gordon.
