April 14, 1924 – January 26, 2013

Left this world peacefully with family at her side. Born in Regina, Grace worked for the Saskatchewan Government before moving to Vancouver in 1943. She was employed by the Fraser Valley Milk Producers and there she met the love of her life, Walter. They married in 1945 and moved to Victoria where Walter was posted with the Navy, eventually settling in Esquimalt to raise their family. Grace worked in accounting for several firms with her last position at Wheaton Construction where she was employed for 25 years. Her latter years were devoted to her family and grandchildren. Grace was an avid reader, enjoyed music, crossword puzzles and social times with special friends. Over the years she doted on a series of yappy little dogs, the current one being Jetta. She was especially proud of having travelled to many parts of the world considering she had started out as, in her words, a simple prairie girl. Grace was predeceased by husband, Walter; parents, William and Violet Palmer and brothers, Hugh, Robert and Wilford. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Wilding (Edward), son, David (Colleen); granddaughter, Emma Landles; grandsons, Scott Landles and Michael Wilding; brothers, George Palmer and Charles Palmer; sister in law, Kay Palmer; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, lrene, Henny, Nell and Paola. Grace gave generously to many charities during her life and has requested that anyone wishing to make a donation in her memory give to the Salvation Army-Sunset Lodge and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Flowers are gratefully declined. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. R. D. Nicoll for the outstanding and empathic care he provided Grace for over 30 years. Also thanks to Dr. John Kelly, the caring staff of Sunset Lodge and the many dedicated and compassionate people at VIHA, both in the hospitals and community care who helped Grace in her last years.

There will be a private burial at Royal Oak Burial Park and a celebration of Grace’s life to be held at a future date.

Loving Mum, Nana, sister and friend. You will live forever in our hearts!
