Dec.1, 1915 – June 28, 2010

Predeceased by her husband, Stanley in 1966 and daughter, Janice in 2008.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Nancy Fauteux (Terry) and Donna Van Gylswyk (Ken); five grandchildren, Gregory Fisher, Michael Fisher, Rob Tracy, Jamie Van Gylswyk, Jordan Van Gylswyk and one great grandchild, Megan Fisher. She and Stan moved from Saskatoon to Victoria in 1946 where they were founders-owners of the Oak Lodge Private Hospital. Hazel and Stan were active in the Optimist Club and also the Capital City Yacht Club. They had many years of wonderful boating experiences on their boat “Atlast”. Hazel was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and the Royal Jubilee Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Victoria Curling Club (member of the 8 Ender Club!) and the Victoria Lawn Bowling Club and actively enjoyed these sports until her 85th year. Many thanks to the staff of Beckley Farm for the wonderful care given to our mom during her stay with them.

A Celebration of Hazel’s life will be held at a later date.

    Dear Friends,
Min and I wish to express our sympathy on the passing of your Mother.
Relief and always very hard to take as we only have one Mother.
Hazel will be at peace, no longer limited by this old body.
But more important she will be with her beloved STAN.
As you mourn awhile, rejoice you had her so long and what a great and fine Lady she was. Rejoice.
God Bless Each of You. Our Love Min & Ibbs.

I am sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. I had many happy days playing with Janice at your home on Scram Dr. I remember taking home your mother’s recipe for Snickerdoodle cookies which I still bake to this day.
    Condolences,
    Fran Swetlikoe (Muir)

There is only a few times in my life that I have met someone that I have never forgotten, one is Hazel Janes. We met at Victoria Lawn Bowling club and although we never socialized we always enjoyed each others company at the club. I always looked forward to seeing her. I got married about 10 years ago and did not get back to the club but have not forgotten my friendship with Hazel.
