Hazel was born in Charlottetown, P.E.I. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, William W. Ross; her daughters, Heather Ann Innis (Hylard) and Christina Leah Yee (Tony); her grandchildren, Sarah Erickson (Matt and his daughter, Ainslee), Stephanie Yee, Alanna Innis (Kent), Ashley Yee, Rebecca Innis and Tyler Yee; her brother, Wilfred Hynes (Pat) and her sisters, Eleanor Halford and Terry Baumgardner as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Evelyn Brennan, Jessie Curtis and Alfreda Brandenburg. The family would like to extend their thanks to the Emergency Staff and 5A Staff at the Victoria General Hospital and Dr. Mestelman and Dr. Malone at the Royal Jubilee Hospital Geriatric Centre.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 3821 Cedar Hill Cross Road, Victoria, BC V8P 2M6, on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. followed by a reception in the church hall. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in Hazel’s memory would be appreciated to St. Luke’s Anglican Church, The Greater Victoria Hospital Foundation, H304 – 633 Courtenay Street, Victoria, BC V8T 2B7 or a charity of your choice. We especially remember Hazel from many years of neighbourly interactions on Thetis Island, since our vacation homes are adjacent to each other. She was a wonderful part of island life! Best wishes go to Bill and the family.
