Our beloved Dad, Hugh Williams, passed away at the age of 90, on October 8, 2019 in his home at Mount Saint Mary’s in Victoria. He was born on January 23, 1929 in London, England. He grew up in Wales, and lived in a variety of places throughout his life, including England, Scotland, Canada, the U.S., Peru, and Mexico.

Dad had an adventurous spirit, a quirky personality, a great sense of humor and a deep love for his family. “I did it my way” would be a good way to sum up his approach to life.

He is survived by his children Ian (Marilyn), Shirley (Daryl), Susan (Bobby), Hazel (Sal) and Barry (Cristina); his grandchildren, Tegan, Kyra, Jordan, Adrian, Jonny, Kristen, Collin, Eric, Cal, Trevor, and Sofia and his great grandchildren, Kaleigh, Hayden, Easton, Benjamin, Emmett, Grace and Allison. He is also survived by his brother Bill and sister Hazel (Alan) and many nieces and nephews.

Dad was an electrician by trade and after completing two years of national service, he spent many years working in the mining field, all over the world, both as an employee, and ultimately as part owner of his own company.

He will be remembered for his amazing magic finger trick, his pleasure at beating family at crib and cards, his out of tune singing, his endless funny sayings, his silly pranks and his interesting fashion sense. There was never a dull moment when he was around!

Let the tears flow with a tinge of sorrow but most of all tears of joy for the long, healthy, full life that our Dad got to have. A celebration of life will be held in the future to honor him and his life well lived.

What a beautiful write up and pictures of your dad. He was a wonderful , kind hearted man who I always admired. I loved his his English accent so much. The last time l saw him was when I was in Victoria which was 4 or 5 years ago and Ian and Marilyn brought him to the hotel to see all of us and when he approached me, I asked him if he remembered me and he said yes of course, your Eddies wife Linda. He gave me such a big hug. We are so very sorry for his passing and our hearts go out to all the Williams family. RIP Mr. Williams.
