Ian David Fisher of Victoria, BC passed away December 14th, 2016. Born in Kaslo, BC on November 8, 1927, he was pre-deceased by his parents Douglas and Margaret (nee Fraser) Fisher; his elder sister Norah Stevens; and by his first wife Norma McLeod (nee Burnett) Fisher.

A retired Superintendent, Ian served 35 years with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Joining the Force in 1947, he was part of the Musical Ride tour of Canada and the USA in 1948, and the RCMP Coronation Contingent to Britain in 1953. He was also a 60-year Gizeh Shrine member and a member of the Order of St. John. After retirement from the RCMP, Ian served as ministerial assistant to three BC Provincial Government Ministers. The son of settlers in Crawford Bay, BC, his favourite memories were of summers at the family cabin on Kootenay Lake near Nelson, BC.

Ian is survived by his wife Dorothy (nee Ryan) who he married in Vancouver in 1957; sister, Sheila Orr; children, Margaret (David) Shorter, David (Debra) Fisher, Douglas (Carmen Roth) Fisher, Elizabeth Campbell, Ian (Joan) Fisher, and Jillian (Donna Bouzan) Karleen; fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Celebration of Ian’s life will be held in the SEQUOIA CENTRE at McCALL GARDENS, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC, on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 2:00 PM.
