It is with heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Ian Donald MacDonald on February 6, 2013.

Born in Victoria, Ian lived a full life surrounded by friends and family. He had a career as a lineman with BC Tel (TELUS), retiring after 35 years. His weekends were spent camping, fishing, hunting or cutting wood. He had an active life in many sports, especially basketball, baseball and curling.

He will be forever missed by his wife Peggy, Dan, Don, Tyann, Duane and his grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister Jean Batty (Bob), sister-in-law De Morris, brother-in-laws Peter Marriott (Pat) and Bill Marriott (Penny), nieces, nephews and many friends. Ian and Peg built a happy life together for 48 years – everyone was welcome in the MacDonald home. He was a wonderful husband, dad and a very special Papa. Everyone who knew him called him a friend.

I was at work on Friday afternoon when a email went out saying that former employee Tyann’s Dad had passed away. I was in total shock. I all to well remember what a kind and gentle spirit Ian was. I used to enjoy his company when he and Peg visited our house. He was such a good friend to my Dad. I enjoyed the odd fishing adventure with both Dad and Ian. I know how much Ian loved his family and his grand babies. I know that part very well having four grand babies of my own. Peg, our heart goes out to you and Tyann, and Danny, and Donny and the rest of the family. I know you are all surrounded by family right now helping you through this difficult time. But should there be anything you need, please don’t hesitate to call. My thoughts and prayers go out to the whole family. Ian will be dearly missed. I have fond memories of a very kind, loving, and caring man. I remember after my Dad passed on, Ian even lent me his truck, and said to come back any time and borrow it again if I needed. Again, my heart goes out to you Peg. I know what a wonderful couple you were, and the many happy years you two had together.
