Inga Michel passed away peacefully at the Saanich Peninsula Hospital with her family by her side. She leaves a legacy behind with the creation of her “inga birds” that are thoroughly enjoyed by many people around the world. An accomplished self-taught artist she thrived as the owner of the Tivoli Gallery in Sidney for 29 years, which she built from the ground up and retired 7 years ago. She will be missed and often commented that she led a very colourful life. A big thank you to all the people involved in the palliative care unit. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Thank you, Inga, for everything you’ve done for me. It was wonderful to work for you at Tivoli Gallery. You were admired by everyone who knew you. I will always keep you in my heart.

Dear Inga, I still love and cherish your gift of my “ merde il pleut” umbrella. So many years ago now… I will cherish my memories of you and Pauline. Xoxo

Oh my dear friend… You shaped me, watched me grow and taught me to never take shit from anyone.
You took a chance hiring me at Tivoli. My first real job.
At times we quarrelled like mother and daughter but it never changed our love.
Every time I see a hummingbird I know it’s you keeping an eye on me.
I didn’t know how sick you were. You didn’t tell anyone. I wish I knew. I wish I could have said goodbye.
I will never forget you. My dear Inga.
