Irene Dupont beloved wife, mother, granny and great granny passed away peacefully on May 5, 2013. She is predeceased by her parents Alice and Omer Huybrecht; her brothers Robert, Marcel, Art and Emile. Irene is survived by her husband Paul; children Diane (Giuseppe) Scaletta and Ken (Bea) Dupont; grandchildren Paulo (Jocelyn) Scaletta, Gina (Laszlo) Safranyik, Michelle (Archie) Vingo, Quinn (Alana) Dupont, Spencer, Preston and Ellie Clapper-Dupont. Irene is also survived by 5 great-grandchildren; Fabien and Frances Scaletta, Jack and Natalie Safranyik and Isla Vingo. Irene leaves behind her good friends Pierre and Pierrette Livernoche and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Irene and Paul managed several hotels in Manitoba including one they owned in Pilot Mound. They moved to Victoria in 1970 and enjoyed semi-retirement while managing apartment buildings for Devon Properties for several years. Irene was a woman of many talents. Family was very important to her and she loved to delight us with amazing homemade meals and incredible desserts. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, knitting and crafting. More recently, Irene was a keen and formidable competitor at Rummycub which she and Paul played together almost every afternoon and at shuffleboard tournaments at The Renaissance Apartment. She had a flair for fashion and was known for her beautiful blue eyes.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace, 849 Old Esquimalt Road, Victoria on Tuesday May 14th at 12:00. A reception and lunch will follow in the Church hall. The venue is wheelchair accessible.
