Louise passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the age of 98. She is predeceased by her husband, Victor and her son, Donald. Louise is survived by her loving family; sister, Lorna; daughter-in-law, Debbie; grandchildren, Dustin, (Christie) and Shannon and her nieces and nephews. Louise had a very interesting childhood. Born in Toronto, she spent the majority of her youth travelling throughout India as the daughter of a missionary Doctor. She returned to Canada at the age of twenty and received training as a Registered Nurse at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. It was during this time that she met her late husband, Victor and they were married in 1944. Shortly thereafter they established themselves in Victoria, both working at Victor’s dental practice. Louise was kind, caring and generous. She loved hosting family dinners, taking photographs and she enjoyed many family camping trips over the years. She was a devoted grandmother and spent many hours watching her grandchildren at the ball park. The family would like to extend their gratitude for the care and compassion Louise received over the last few years of her life. A special thank you to all the staff
at Marrion Village. Louise never passed on dessert, loved a good giggle and leaves behind a long legacy of love.

A family gathering to celebrate Louise’s life will take place at a later date. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com.

Words of lost are beyond a nephew’s time of rememberance which have been boldly scribed upon your respected wall of departure.

You came ; you saw and you left your undaunting love which has encircled your remaining guard of allegiance.

You will not be forgotten ; you will not be ushered away as the winds blow the sands of time across a new pathway of discovery.

We shall stand strong as one and your respected voice shall continued to be heard upon the breaking light of a new dawn .

    Respectfully ; JAMES D. ALLAN

Words can not express our lost of your mortal presence for you are indeed the last passing matriarch of the original Marnell clan.

No other one can fill your footsteps nor shall anyone else rise to your honourary state of rememberance.

The closure of your recent passage completes the final chapter of your immediate family who have in death duly preceded you to higher grounds .

Our undaunting love for you will forever be written upon the pathway of eternal light ; you are indeed the last of a treasured few.

  • Fern Potter [ Rodger]

I was so sorry to hear of Louise’s passing. She and Lorna were always like Aunts to me and I will keep many memories of family gatherings at John and Fern’s. How wonderful it was that she was able to visit the farm again last summer.. Everyone so enjoyed her rememberances of life there in days gone by. My sincere condolence to her immediate family and to the Allen family.

  • Rev. Gordon Cann

During the three and a half years that I was the Minister of Pastoral Care at First-Metropolitan United Chruch I got to know Louise and Lorna very well. I visited Louise when she was on Fifth Street and then when she moved to Marrion Village. During the berry season I would bring her a basket of berries and twice a year brought her the Sacrament of Communion which she much appreciated. My last visit to her was April 7th and I was shocked to see how far her health had deteriorated as well as her attention. A couple of times the phone rang and she just ignored it. I have tried to visit twice since that but had no response to my ring and nobody came in or out to allow me access. She was indeed a very special person and I always enjoyed my visits with her. On behalf of those who sat near the sisters in the back left hand corner of the church I offer our sincere sympathy and will have good memories of many Sundays.
    Blessings, Gordon Cann
