Deschutter Jaak Alois Frederick Louis, Born in Brussels, Belgium, March 18th, 1924, passed away November 25th, 2023, peacefully at Saanich Peninsula Hospital, Saanich, BC.

He is survived by his son Edwin (wife Patricia) of Blaasveld, Belgium, his three grand children, five great children and daughter JoAnna of Calgary, Alberta. Predeceased (2015) by his loving wife Johanna. He will be missed.

Jaak in his youth survived the Second World War and met his bride through post war youth groups. As newly wedster decided to emigrate to Canada (1952) with their young son. Later with their daughter the four built a life starting in Point Gatineau, Quebec. Jaak brought with him his carpentry skills and four languages. Jaak worked on many projects in and around Ottawa. With a strong work ethic, Jaak and Johanna then moved to Ottawa and started their business, The Churchill Day Nursery. Their sense of community found Jaak involved in many groups but most rewarding was the 39ers of Sharbot Lake. They enjoyed 20 years or retirement there while travelling back and forth to Florida as Snow Birds. In his spare time Jaak enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, wine making and work his family he loved camping in Algonquin Park and along the St. Lawrence Sea Way. His adventures continued when they moved to Victoria, BC. Jaak loved Canada, it was his home.

There will be no service, Jaak’s memories will be celebrated, as father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. May he rest in peace.
