He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pat (Atkinson) Smit, brother Fred Smit, son Jason Smit, daughter-in-law Beth Smit and his grandchildren Angela Mary Smit and Nolan Jacob Smit. He is preceded in death by his daughter Nancy Lynn and his sister Tina Ruddy. Jack was born in German occupied Holland in 1940, and he immigrated to Canada with his entire family in 1957 where they settled in Southern Ontario. There, they worked hard as a family and Jack, with his brother Fred, built a successful farming business in Lambton County. Our Uncle Jack will be remembered for many things but mostly for his love of farming which he did with my dad/ our opa. He would often post on social media, his thoughts, observations and longing for what he loved even in retirement. It made us smile.
