It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Jaginder “Jindy” Ram, known to many as Jim Ram. Jim was born in Victoria, BC on May 17, 1958 to Banta and Sita Devi Ram; he was the fourth of their six children. He passed away peacefully on February 15, 2023 at the age of 64.

Growing up in Victoria, Jim loved adventuring with his childhood friends, fishing under the Johnson Street Bridge, and cruising the streets in his ‘78 Corvette Indianapolis Pace Car. He started his career as a certified automotive mechanic at Ideal Fuel, then Kamahap Gas Station, before moving to Suburban Motors as a Service Advisor. Jim went on to work as a Transit Operator for 30+ years with BC Transit, where he was known for his kindness, incredible work ethic, and excellent customer relations which he received much recognition for.

From just a smile across the room, Jim met his wife Kelly in 1984, and they were happily together for over 39 years. Jim was an amazing father who drew great pride from his children’s successful careers in medicine, teaching, and business, which they attribute to his love and devotion to them. His unwavering dedication played a significant role in their achievements, and they will always be grateful for the time and energy he invested in their futures.

Jim will be remembered for his warm smile, his sense of humor, and his tireless devotion to family and friends. His immediate family would like to thank all of Jim’s loved ones who provided support and comfort during his final years. His legacy will live on through the memories he created and the lives he touched. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Jim is survived by his wife Kelly Ram, children Ashley, Kaley and Michael Ram, siblings Krishna, Jamna, Jogi, Janabee, Shanti, their partners, many nieces, nephews and his dog Bindhi.

A private Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 24, 2023 in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC.

So sad to hear of Jim’s passing. Never heard a foul or negative word out of his mouth in the 17 years we worked together. Had many interesting discussions with Jim, and have a fond memory of his humour, and that simple slight smirk on his lips, when he was yanking my chain, trying to pull a fast one. With his soft voice, he could charm any one over, and I am truly grateful to have met such a kind man. Rest in peace, Jim. Condolences to his wife and family, although we’ve never met.

I worked with Jimmy for years at B.C. Transit. You get to be able to “read” people after interacting with hundreds of thousands of them on the job. I know what type of person Jimmy was…. one of the “Good Guys” Although I have been retired for 10years, I think of Jimmy as a good friend and am very saddened to hear of his loss. Condolences to his family and friends RIP Jim. Mike West

    Hello!!
I think this is Jim that I assisted when he developed the “HEATED, NO-FOG”bathroom mirror. It would have been about 2006-09 or so!!
He was quite a guy!! Knowledgable, direct and determined!! We had a good time on his work. After the testing was completed he commenced manufacturing and marketing but I never heard from him again except when he returned a piece of equipment I had lent him. I never saw him again.
Yesterday I was working in my shop and had to move the piece of equipment I had lent him and I thought of him and the project.
Today I read about him in the paper–strange how life goes!!!

I am very sorry and pass on condolences–his passing is a loss for all!!
Apologies but I won’t be able to attend the service.
    Best Regards
    R.J. “Barny” Hiney P. Eng.

I am so truly sorry for the loss of this loving husband, father, brother and friend to so many. My heart goes out to you all. I haven’t seen Gindy in many years, but being a close friend of his sister Janabee, she would often mention him and always held him in high esteem and spoke of him with much affection and love, as she does with all her family. A very close loving clan..It is never easy a to lose someone close to our hearts, an unfortunate reality. Words can not ease the pain but we can share in a prayer of unity until our souls once again come together. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
